Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Middletown received the coveted Hospital of the Year Award during Encompass Health's Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet held Oct. 18 in Nashville, Tennessee. This is the second time in the past three years the hospital has achieved the top honor.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Middletown started a no cost community event series and our first speaker was Wendi Brost of DE Hospice speaking about how to avoid caregiver burnout.

Anna Watson started her journey at Encompass Health unable to get out of bed without the assistance of at least two people due to ataxia. After working with physical and occupational therapy, she was able to start taking steps using the Lite Gait almost a week ago and progressed to using a standard walker this week. We are so proud of Anna’s hard work and motivation!

Keri came to Encompass Health Morgantown after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. From day one, her biggest goal was to make a TikTok video with her therapists. By incorporating dancing into her therapy sessions, therapists helped Keri work on memorizing moves, strengthening and coordinating her arms and improving trunk strength. All of these activities translated into improved overall function. After just a few days of practice, she was able to progress from requiring total assistance for sitting, to being able to sit independently while dancing along!

Congratulations to our Outstanding Employee Achievement Award winner for the quarter, Seong Kim, pharmacist. Seong earned this honor by consistently demonstration of the Encompass Health core values. He greets everyone with a smile that you can feel even through his mask, and goes out of his way to help patients and his coworkers.

Employees at Encompass Health Middletown took advantage of all the snow in Delaware recently to bring a little cheer to its patients. Employees at the hospital organized a group of kids to build snowmen in the courtyard. Patients were able to watch from the windows, and the kids had a blast!
