Chief Executive Officer
Jim joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Richmond as the chief executive officer in November 2023. He started his healthcare career in 1991, initially serving as a hospital safety officer. Prior to joining Encompass Health, he held the position of vice president of operations and ethics and compliance officer at HCA’s Medical City McKinney in McKinney, Texas. As CEO, Jim is entrusted with overseeing all day-to-day operations of the hospital. This position is accountable for planning, organizing and directing the hospital to high-level patient outcomes within a safe and compliant environment. His education background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Radford University and a master’s degree in business administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is also a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional. Beyond professional pursuits, he passionately advocates for individuals facing crises. He has actively collaborated with Caritas to provide shelter for the homeless and served on the Board of Directors for both the Community Food Pantry of McKinney and Life Path, which offers support to families struggling with a mental health crisis.
Medical Director
Dr. Emily Robbins was born and raised in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Emily Robbins was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She received her bachelor's degree in chemistry and psychology with an emphasis on organic synthesis and neuroscience from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2005. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Robbins worked in clinical trials and as a nurse’s aide at a spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation hospital in Denver. She completed medical school, graduating from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014. Dr. Robbins completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2018 and fellowship in spinal cord injury medicine at the University of Texas in Houston in 2019. During her training, she was active in the patient safety committee as well as quality improvement. Dr. Robbins’s research interests include immune deficiency and immune dysregulation following spinal cord injury. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outside and riding her bicycle.
Dr. Robbins is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Pharmacy
Brice graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy in 2006. He joined the Encompass Rehabilitation team as the director of pharmacy in 2013. Since then he has worked on key initiatives with the company. Brice works closely with other departments to provide individualized care that meets each patient’s specific needs.
Human Resources Director
Jauqule joined Encompass Health of Richmond as the human resources director. Jauqule has been a human resources professional for over 23 years. She brings with her a wealth of experience working in numerous facets of human resources management to include managing a HR department, employee relations and recruitment to name a few. Jauqule holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in business management with a specialization in human resources. She is excited to make a difference here at Encompass Health of Richmond.
Director of Quality & Risk Management
Heather joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Richmond in 2023. She previously served as director of operations for an acute care facility. Heather has more than 15 years of clinical experience and over 12 years of experience in healthcare leadership. She graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University with her bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy. She completed her master’s degree in health administration at Mercy College of Ohio. Heather is an enthusiastic servant leader who believes in the mission and collaboration of interdisciplinary teams to achieve high quality, safe and inclusive care for patients.
Controller
Dain has been the controller of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Richmond since 2021. He has worked in the healthcare industry since 2016, spending five years in the hospice and home health fields as a staff accountant. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, Dain graduated from Southern Utah University with a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accountancy with a concentration in managerial accounting and public accounting. He is a certified management accountant and enjoys collaborating with his team to positively impact the hospital’s reputation as a source of praiseworthy patient outcomes and dynamic working environments.
Director of Case Management
Karen joined the Encompass Health team in January 2020. She has dedicated her career to leading the collaborative process of case management and ensuring quality patient care through advocacy, teamwork and optimization of resources. Karen is an Accredited Case Manger (ACM) with the Case Management Association and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with the Virginia Board of Health Professionals. She is a proud graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University’s accelerated clinical social work graduate program and Christopher Newport University’s School of Social Work.
Facilities Management Director
Ryan joined Encompass Health in March 2021. He began his career in 2005 working construction and remodeling for a family-owned business. Ryan has held numerous position in building maintenance from technician to corporate facilities manager for hotels and senior living centers. With years of experience in construction, Ryan’s approach is hand-on with a strong commitment to patient safety, efficient building operations and security.
Director of Therapy Operations
Michelle joined the team at Encompass Health Richmond in September 2020. Michelle brings more than 25 years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist and 20 years as a leader of therapy services including inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, home health, SNF and early intervention. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire and Boston University Sargent College in 1994. She obtained a geriatric scholar specialization from Columbia University. Having grown up in South America, Michelle is trilingual and is an active advocate for inclusion and diversity.
Chief Nursing Officer
Harry joined Encompass Health of Richmond as the chief nursing officer in 2023. Prior to joining Encompass Health, Harry served as the director of critical care and respiratory therapy for Bon Secours Saint Francis in Midlothian, Virginia. Harry obtained his diploma in nursing from the Watts School of Nursing and his associate degree in health science from the University of Mount Olive. He then went on to attain both his bachelor's degree in nursing and his master's degree in nursing with a concentration in nursing leadership and management from Western Governor’s University. Most recently Harry received his master's degree in business administration with a concentration in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina. Harry also holds three nursing certifications including his Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
