CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital, a partner of Encompass Health, tops national rankings for quality of rehabilitative care for 12th year

TYLER, Texas, April 26, 2018 – For twelve consecutive years, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital, a partner of Encompass Health, has received top recognition from Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR®). The hospital ranked in the top 10 percent of qualifying rehabilitation hospitals from 2006-2017, which is every year the ranking has been released.

UDSMR® is a non-profit group that evaluates rehabilitation hospitals on their delivery of quality care. To determine the rankings, UDSMR® uses a system that measures the efficiency and effectiveness of a hospital’s rehabilitation programs. The system evaluates and tracks a patient’s progress through the rehabilitation process to document gains. This is the twelfth year UDSMR® has issued the awards.

In 2017, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital is pleased to report:

  • The average length of patient stay was 12.3 days.
  • 88 percent of its patients were able to go home at discharge.
  • The hospital has achieved Disease-Specific Care Certification from The Joint Commission for its stroke, amputee, hip fracture and cardiac rehabilitation programs.

“Our UDSMR® ranking allows us to benchmark our performance against national data and confirms our ability to help our patients achieve excellent outcomes,” said Sharla Anderson, chief executive officer of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rehabilitation Hospital. “This ranking is not only a reflection of our patients’ success, but is also an achievement of the talented team that strives to make a difference in the lives of our patients. Patient care is a top priority for us, and we are honored to earn such an accolade in our industry.”

The data used for this report was based on 12 months of 2017 data, drawn from both Medicare and non-Medicare patients. The results were weighted and combined into a single composite score, and each hospital was assigned a percentile rank from zero to 100 relative to the qualifying subscribers in the UDSMR® database.
