Lamar Hepinstall returns to a normal life after traumatic spider bite

Fox 5 News reported on the story of Lamar Hepinstall; who following a spider bite from a brown recluse seven years ago, had to have his leg amputated. “I put on a pair of boots to go to a friend’s wedding and got up the next morning and my foot was all swelled up,” Hepinstall said. The bite was so severe, his leg had to be amputated.

Following the loss of his leg, Hepinstall was placed at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Newnan, where he learned how to return to his everyday life with the assistance of a prosthetic leg.

Hepinstall’s return to normal life was painful, including multiple falls and broken bones, but years later his physical condition and attitude has grown exponentially. Hepinstall has returned to HealthSouth Newnan as a peer volunteer to help others on their journey to recovery. “Every day instead of dreading to get up, or depressed about it, I say, ‘God, here I am. Hear me. Use me. Send me where you need me to go and I’ll go,” he said.
