Earlier this year, “The Mayberry Deputy” made a special appearance at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg. Aka, David Browning, was a big hit as he handed out “Tickets” and shared his words of wisdom with our group.

David Browning has spent his life entertaining and impersonating the well-known Barney Fife character made famous by Don Knotts on the Andy Griffith show. With over 5000 performances in 35 states at various events including corporate outings for Sprint, Cracker Barrel, Lowes, Tractor Supply, Coca Cola, Wal-Mart, Major League Baseball, Pepsi and others, he has also opened for Don Knotts and has appeared in numerous music videos and commercials.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Petersburg was honored to have David appear, as The Mayberry Deputy, to offer a few moments of nostalgia to our patients, staff and guests. He roamed the halls handing out “citations” (autographed pictures), and offering his special kind of cheer and wit, to help us kick off a week focused on Employee and Patient Safety. Everyone was invited to a luncheon in our dining room, where David entertained a crowd where there was standing room only. It was a day full of laughter and fond memories.
