At Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Melbourne, we serve the Space Coast as a leading provider of inpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology for stroke, brain injury, hip fracture and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.

Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

*The hospital provides access to independent physicians.

Mark Racicot
Mark Racicot

Chief Executive Officer

Prior to becoming CEO at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, Racicot was the chief executive officer at North Shore Medical Center in Miami, FL.

Prior to his appointment to Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, Mark was the chief executive officer at North Shore Medical Center in Miami, FL, where he led his team to achieve The Joint Commission's Thrombectomy Stroke Center Certification as the first hospital in Miami-Dade, design and construction of a new 16-bed forensics unit to serve Florida Department of Corrections patients, reinvigorated the bariatric surgery program as well as numerous other initiatives. Mark was the chief operating officer at Palmetto General Hospital and was the lead COO for Tenet Healthcare’s Miami-Dade group of hospitals. In his COO role, Mark implemented best practices across the five hospitals to optimize efficiency and improve quality of care. Mark has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in business administration from Fitchburg State University.

Juan Lebron
Dr. Juan Lebron

Medical Director

Dr. Juan Lebron* is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Juan Lebron is the medical director at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Lebron earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico, and joined Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, upon completion of his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at the State University of New York in Syracuse, N.Y. As a native of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Dr. Lebron is fluent in Spanish and has settled into the Brevard County lifestyle comfortably. He is happy to see patients in the only acute rehabilitation hospital setting in Brevard County, where he specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with conditions such as stroke, neurological disorders, hip fracture, traumatic brain injury and amputation. In addition, he has expanded into outpatient rehabilitation for continuum of care. Dr. Lebron is currently seeing patients in the inpatient setting at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital and can be consulted at several acute hospitals for any PM&R needs.

Dr. Lebron is an independent private practice physician.

Tracy Albano, RHIT

Hospital HIPAA Officer

Tracy has been employed by Encompass Health since 1994.

Tracy has been employed by Encompass Health since 1994. She joined Encompass Health as the hospital HIPAA officer and health information management services director and has served in multiple roles to include regional HIMS director, risk manager and director of quality management. Tracy attended Tennessee State University, is a registered health information technician and a member of the American Health Information Management Association.

Steven joined at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in May 2021.

Steven joined at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in May 2021. He began his career in healthcare in 2010 in the acute care setting. Prior to that, he did drafting and engineering for seven years. Steven earned his associate’s degree in engineering, bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indian River State College and master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Central Florida.

Kersten has been a physical therapist for more than 13 years and has worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home health care and long term acute care.

Kersten has been a physical therapist for more than 13 years and has worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home health care and long term acute care both as a staff therapist and a director. She joined with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sea Pines team in the fall of 2012. Kersten is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a master’s of science in rehabilitation sciences degree, and a doctor of physical therapy degree.

Jim came to Encompass Health 12 years ago and has worked as a pharmacist for over 30 years.

Jim came to Encompass Health 12 years ago and has worked as a pharmacist for over 30 years. He graduated from the University of Colorado, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and bachelor’s degree in pharmacy. He has practiced in almost every facet of pharmacy including owning an independent retail pharmacy. Jim has worked as a consultant pharmacist specializing in vaccine research and has participated in studies like Anthrax, Ebola and Zika Virus.

Kerri joined Encompass Health Sea Pines in September 2016 and brings with her more than 15 years of experience as a registered nurse in the acute care setting.

Kerri joined Encompass Health Sea Pines in September 2016 and brings with her more than 15 years of experience as a registered nurse in the acute care setting. She earned her bachelor's degree in business management and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2003 from Barry University. Kerri has served in multiple roles within the company. Prior to joining Encompass Health Sea Pines, Kerri worked in the acute care settings, both for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals in various leadership and operational roles and with a focus in infection prevention and education.

Jaimee has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, with focus in the areas of case management, discharge planning, medical sales and marketing as well as business development.  She received an undergraduate degree in social work from North Adams State College in Massachusetts. Jaimee is very involved in the community and serves on the board of directors for the Brevard Parkinson’s Alliance.

Karen joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sea Pines in 1996 as a recreational therapist.

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation from Illinois State University, Karen joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sea Pines in 1996 as a recreational therapist. Karen continued her education and received her registered nursing degree from Eastern Florida State College. She is a Certified Case Manager with more than 13 years’ experience in case management.

Joaquin has over a decade of experience in healthcare quality and risk management. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in healthcare services from the University of Central Florida and her bachelor's degree in nursing from Western Governors University. She is a certified professional in healthcare quality by the National Association for Healthcare Quality as well as being certified in medical staff credentialing by the National Association Medical Staff Services. Joaquin also serves on the education committee of the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management.

A SHRM Certified Professional, she possesses more than six years of core human resources experience in the areas of recruitment, national and international on/off-boarding, vendor management, skills development training, and policy drafting and interpretation. In her current role at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health her core functions include recruiting, onboarding, orientation, compliance reporting, training and development, policy communication and interpretation. Her areas of interest include diversity and inclusion, organizational development, training and development as well as human resources operations improvement.

Hospital happenings

Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital had the honor of participating and fundraising for the 2023 American Heart Walk in Viera, Florida. The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premier event for raising funds to save lives from the country's No. 1 and No. 5 killers, which are heart disease and stroke. The Sea Pines team included 70 walkers, donors, and individuals who continue to support this mission each year and who helped our team raise $3,930, which was donated to the American Heart Association. We look forward to this event each and every year!
