April is National Occupational Therapy Month. There are many misconceptions that occupational therapists help individuals find jobs, or that they strictly work on upper body strengthening and are the same as physical therapists.

The truth is, occupational therapists work with individuals who have various conditions across their lifespan in order to help them complete their activities of daily living such as eating, grooming, dressing, toileting, bathing and functional transfers. Occupational therapists focus on adapting everyday tasks in order for the individuals to regain their highest level of independence and return to their community.
