Upon arrival, Johnnie required assistance to complete all self-care tasks and was unable to walk. “I couldn’t really move my legs and my arms were very weak,” he said. Pain was a limiting factor for Johnnie. Johnnie’s goals were to get back to walking, hunting, fishing and taking his kids boating and jet skiing. He was educated on the use of adaptive equipment in order to complete all self-care tasks independently.
Both physical therapy and occupational therapy educated Johnnie on the use of a rolling walker, a huge goal for him to accomplish. With help from therapists, Supriya and Elaine, he was able to make an outstanding recovery and was able to return home to his children.
