Chief Executive Officer
Brent joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Shreveport in December of 2020 as the hospital’s inaugural CEO. He has dedicated his entire, 23+ year career to healthcare and brings operational experience in acute care, ambulatory surgical care, imaging and inpatient surgery to his role. Before becoming CEO of Encompass Health of Shreveport, he served as the chief operating officer for Parkhill Health in Dallas, Texas. A proven healthcare leader, Brent completed his bachelor’s degree of science in business management and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Medical Director
Mitul started at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in March 2022, and was appointed medical director in April 2022.. He became passionate about the rehabilitation aspect of care and decided to pursue the care for both medicine and rehabilitation for the hospital. Prior to coming to Huntsville, he joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria in July 2019 as a consulting nephrologist. He is a board certified physician in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Patel went to medical school at Ross University and trained at Westlake Hospital and Loyola University Medical Center in the Chicago area.
Human Resources Director
Karen has served as the director of human resources since June 2023. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/marketing. She has a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification through HRCI. Karen has worked as a human resources business partner and director in a variety of healthcare settings since 2007. Her experience includes providing human resources support to a large healthcare system in South Carolina and at a rural hospital in Tennessee. Karen was raised in North Alabama but spent a great deal of her professional career in upstate South Carolina. She is excited to have the opportunity to serve the employees and patients of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama.
Controller
Tyler joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in 2009 as an inpatient accountant at the corporate office. He moved to Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital as an accounting manager in November 2016 to gain knowledge of healthcare industry at the facility level. In January 2018 he transferred to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Memphis as the controller. Then he moved to Encompass Health of North Alabama in Huntsville as controller. He is a graduate from Auburn University class of 2007 and passed the CPA exam in 2012.
Director of Case Management
Emily has been with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama since January 2015. She graduated from Calhoun Community College in 2009 with her nursing degree and worked in behavioral health, travel nursing and dermatology before finding her way to inpatient rehabilitation. She worked as a bedside nurse in our Birmingham and Huntsville locations before settling in North Alabama and transferring to the case management department in 2017. She continued her specialization in rehabilitation nursing and case management by obtaining both her Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) and her Accredited Case Manager (ACM) certifications in 2019. She was promoted to senior case manager in 2021 and became director of case management in June 2024.
Health Information Management Services Director
Jana joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation of North Alabama in 2015. Jana holds bachelor's degrees from Birmingham-Southern College and University of Alabama at Birmingham. Jana has over 24 years of varied health information management experience. She earned her juris doctorate from Birmingham school of law. She has maintained her registered health information administrator credential since 1995.
Chief Nursing Officer
Kristina joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in February 2023. She has been in the healthcare industry for 28 years. She first obtained her RN degree in 2006 from Wallace State. After graduating, she was a surgical-trauma ICU nurse for five years then received her bachelor's degree in nursing in 2009 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Additionally, Kristina became a board-certified family nurse practitioner in 2010. She spent two and a half years as a cardiac nurse practitioner and then went on to be a nurse educator for critical care and cardiology. Kristina was promoted into a nursing leadership position and has been a CNO for over eight years. Most recently, Kristina obtained her Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential in 2023.
Director of Quality
Tiffany has been with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama since May 2018. Tiffany began her career as a physical therapist with Encompass Health where she developed a love of caring for the geriatric community, particularly patients that have neurological disorders. She further pursued her passion for treating the neurological patient population by obtaining her Certification in Neurodevelopmental Treatment in May 2021. Tiffany is a graduate of Athens State University and later earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of South Alabama. She became the director of quality and risk management in January 2024.
Facilities Management Director
Brian joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in October 2021. He has more than 18 years of hospital facilities and construction experience. Brian has been an active member of the Alabama society for healthcare engineers since 2010.
Director of Pharmacy
David joined the pharmacy team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in the fall of 2022. He has been a licensed pharmacist in the state of Alabama for more than eight years. He completed his PharmD at Samford University in 2014 and completed two years of residency training in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill. Following his residency, David returned to Alabama and worked for several years in large, acute-care settings. He is excited about transitioning to the inpatient rehabilitation environment and learning more about providing pharmaceutical care for rehabilitation patients.
Director of Therapy Operations
Chelsea has served as the director of therapy operations since March of 2018. She began her career with Encompass Health in 2011 in Evansville, Indiana and transferred to North Alabama two years later. Chelsea is a graduate of Purdue University and later earned her master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Indianapolis. Chelsea has specialized in the evaluation and treatment of brain injury and neurological disorders and earned her certification in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT).
Business Development Director
Amber joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in April 2024 as our business development director. She began her career in December 2010 when she graduated from Central Alabama Community College with her nursing degree. She began working in a long-term care setting, where she was employed for approximately 10 years. During that time, she was a bedside nurse before being promoted to nurse manager/floor administrator. She served in that role for roughly five years. Amber then joined a sales and marketing team as a clinical liaison serving the Birmingham market. In October 2020, she began her career with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden as a rehab liaison. In this position she was cross trained as a hybrid liaison working in the field as well as in the admissions office. In October 2022, Encompass Health established the Birmingham virtual marketing team, which serviced all Encompass Health hospitals in the State of Alabama. On this team, Amber served as the senior rehab liaison, prior to relocating to her role with us here at North Alabama.
