John Whetstone, a U.S. Air Force veteran, spent 105 days in the hospital battling COVID-19, including 80 days on a ventilator. The COVID-19 virus turned into pneumonia then resulted in a collapsed lung. Once he was feeling better and weaned off the ventilator, John was discharged from the hospital and brought to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson, where he regained the strength and function needed to return home to his wife.
