Thank you to Liberty County Sheriff Keith Jenkins for coming to our hospital to speak about safety in the community during Employee Safety Week. In 2017, Keith was a patient of ours after he suffered a brain aneurysm. It is always a joy for us to see former patients like Keith and to see all the progress they've made in their recovery!

After beating COVID-19, Stephen Boyette arrived at Encompass Health to regain his strength and mobility. When admitted, he required assistance with all mobility, was on oxygen and didn’t have much endurance. Because of Stephen’s hard work and motivation, our team was able to improve his levels of function and weaned him off the oxygen. After months of being in the hospital, followed by 13 days with us, he is finally going home! Here he is standing with Stephanie, his occupational therapist. Congratulations, Stephen, on your achievements. We wish you the best on your continued recovery!

Congratulations Cari Howze on winning the Outstanding Employee Achievement Award for our Southeast region. Cari is the wound care coordinator at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Savannah, Georgia. Though she meets many of her patients at their most vulnerable, she’s still able to make them feel comfortable and relaxed while in her care. Her unique ability to understand and connect with her patients is one of the many reasons she received the award. Congratulations Cari!

As we celebrate our amazing PTs during Physical Therapy Month, we also want to celebrate our employees with PT credentials who don’t necessarily treat our patients. Meet our liaison PTs—a mix of admission liaisons and rehab liaisons who help bring patients into the hospital. Their PT skills come in handy when pre-screening candidates to see if they could benefit from inpatient therapy. Happy PT month to our very own healthcare heroes and to all PTs out there!

Happy anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Bridgon! They celebrated 31 years of love with a picnic outside the hospital. While this may not be an ideal anniversary date, being able to see each other and share this moment was very special to them.

See how Keith Jenkins applied karate values to help with his rehabilitation after a brain aneurysm. “When you understand and know your body, you’re going to accomplish a lot of things,” Jenkins said. “Combining therapy with what I knew from my karate skills gave me will power, courage to move forward and not to give up on myself.”
