Steve Ratty, a Bakersfield optometrist, celebrated returning to his wife and home after battling COVID-19. Ratty and his wife both contracted the virus, but her recovery was much quicker. After a hospital stay where he was intubated, Ratty came to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bakersfield to regain strength and function before heading home.

“It’s amazing to see how far he’s come. A lot of COVID patients – they really need that intense rehabilitation right after coming out of the hospital,” said Dr. A. Pasha Ehsan, medical director of Encompass Health Bakersfield about Ratty’s journey.
