BIRMINGHAM, Ala. and Waco, Texas, March 3, 2021 – Donna Harris has been named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Waco. The 40-bed hospital, which is under construction at the intersection of Texas State Highway Loop 340 and Texas Highway 77, is expected to start caring for patient in summer 2021.

Harris, who assumed the position on Jan. 1, 2021, will be responsible for overseeing the future hospital’s day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide 24-hour nursing care and physical, occupational and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and complex orthopedic conditions.

Harris is a familiar name to Encompass Health as she has served the past 26 years in a leadership role at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Jonesboro in Arkansas. Most recently, she served as the CEO of the inpatient rehabilitation hospital, a position she held since 2004. Prior to working for Encompass Health, she worked in operations for an acute care hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in health services administration.
