Encompass Health recently broke ground for the future Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Maryland. The 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital will be located at 5081 Howerton Way in Bowie and is expected to begin serving patients in early 2023.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to serve patients in Prince George’s County and Southern Maryland with our future state of the art inpatient rehabilitation hospital which will provide post-acute care to patients recovering from a life-altering injury or illness,” said Abe Sims, president of Encompass Health’s MidAtlantic Region. “The hospital has been designed with our patients’ needs in mind, and we look forward to offering a place where area residents can regain strength, function, hope and independence.”
