Local artist uses painting to recover from stroke at Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital

Elizabeth Havens, a local artist, is recovering from a stroke at Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital. The stroke affected the left side of her body, and her passion for painting is helping her through therapy. "At first, I couldn't do anything, and then they pushed me up to a table that had all these beautiful paints on it. And all these great paintbrushes, and I just dove in and enjoyed myself," said Havens. "Her resilience and her strength that she has from inside is a major part of their recovery," said Nurse Supervisor, Tammy Hubbard. She was recently able to return home in time for the holidays.
