Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Braintree to host 43rd Annual Neurorehabilitation Conference

Conference speakers include clinical experts from Boston Medical Center, John Hopkins, and more

BOSTON, Mass., Oct. 21, 2022 – Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Braintree will host the 43rd Annual Neurorehabilitation Conference on Saturday, November 12, a premier event for clinicians looking to further their knowledge for treating traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other neurological disorders. Speakers at this year’s virtual conference include clinical experts from Boston Medical Center, John Hopkins University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Boston University, Rutgers University, University of Connecticut, Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear.

“I have attended the Braintree neuro rehab conference for seven years now, and one of the things I absolutely love about the conference is the interdisciplinary approach,” said Dr. Robert Winston, Spinal Cord Injury Program Medical Director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Braintree. “Each field of rehabilitation, whether it be therapy, nursing or the physicians, are able to learn about a given topic, but learn about it from each other’s perspective with the common goal of getting that patient more independent and functioning such that they can return home.”

Speakers will cover a variety of topics related to varying conditions, including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and brain injury. Dr. Amy Bastian, Chief Science Officer at Kennedy Krieger Institute, will deliver the opening keynote, and Pat and Tammy McLeod will deliver the closing keynote, sharing their journey of ambiguous loss that began after their son suffered a traumatic brain injury while playing football.

“Some of my favorite things about the conference are that we get to bring in and learn from some of the leading researchers and clinicians around the country and indeed around the world in neurorehabilitation,” said Dr. Douglas Katz, Brain Injury Program Medical Director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Braintree. “The conference is really valuable for all clinicians who work in rehabilitation.”

All sessions will be available on demand for two months after the event, allowing attendees to watch missed sessions or revisit sessions following the conference. Conference attendees can receive up to 23.75 continuing education contact hours.
