Hospital happenings

Bruce Hughes was diagnosed with COVID-19, pneumonia and respiratory failure in December 2020. He required a lengthy hospitalization with meticulous respiratory management by Dr. Carlos Perez and Mandy Carter, ACNP, at a local long term acute care hospital to stabilize his breathing.

He was transferred to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Texarkana where Bruce received intensive therapy services, three hours a day, including physical, occupational and speech therapy to regain his overall function to return to his home. On admission to Encompass Health, he was dependent with self-care, transfers and walking. On discharge, Bruce could care for himself and walk independently. We use an interdisciplinary team approach to ensure our patients meet their goals and return to their community at their maximum potential.
