At MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital, stroke rehabilitation is what we do, and that makes a difference. If you or a loved one have experienced a stroke, choose our hospital as the next stop on your journey to recovery.
Part of the nation’s largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation, we know stroke rehabilitation and are committed to helping you achieve your highest level of independence.
Our hospital works to provide the highest-quality care to each of our patients. By using an interdisciplinary team approach, which includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation physicians*, case managers, pharmacists and dietitians, our experts work together to create a customized care plan designed with each patient’s unique goals in mind.
At MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital, we know the effects of a stroke are as unique as each of our patients. We also know that many conditions experienced after a stroke may improve with time and specialized rehabilitation.
Through a coordinated care approach, we implement a personalized treatment plan for each patient, proactively communicating and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams. We deliver integrated care that adapts to meet a patient’s specific needs, and base their care plan on their unique goals. Features of our stroke program include:
Where you choose to continue your stroke recovery and rehabilitation matters. According to the 2016 adult stroke rehabilitation guidelines released by the American Heart Association, whenever possible, stroke patients should be treated at an inpatient rehabilitation facility rather than a skilled nursing facility.
“While at an inpatient rehabilitation facility, a patient participates in at least three hours of rehabilitation a day from physical, occupational and speech therapists. Nurses are continuously available and doctors typically visit daily. An inpatient rehabilitation facility may be a free-standing facility or a separate unit of a hospital.”**
At MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital, you’ll receive at least three hours of inpatient rehabilitative therapy five days per week. By combining speech, occupational and physical therapy, your team of therapists will work with you on achieving your unique goals. Our functional approach to therapy includes daily activities such as grooming, dressing, cooking, leisure activities and more. Many of our activities of daily living suites are complete with bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms to give you a chance to practice the skills you’ll rely on most when you return home.
When you choose MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital for inpatient rehabilitation, you will receive round-the-clock nursing care, including nurses who specialize in rehabilitative care and understand your needs through the rehabilitation process. You’ll also receive regular physician visits to ensure your care plan is on track to help you reach your highest level of independence.
