Abilene, Tex., July 19, 2021- Todd Wallace has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Abilene. In his position as CEO, Wallace will oversee all of the day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality at the 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 6401 Directors Parkway. He assumed the position on July 1, 2021.

Wallace first joined Encompass Health in December of 2003 as a physical therapist at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Texarkana. Wallace has served in a number of clinical leadership roles at Encompass Health of Texarkana, most recently as the Director of Therapy Operations. In this role, Wallace led the location in its achievement of The Joint Commission certification as a Disease Specific Care facility for strokes, hip fractures, and amputees. Additionally, he played a significant role in implementing an annual community Stroke Continuing Education program, and he was co-creator of the hospital’s “Leadership DRIVE Series,” a five-part annual training series designed to recognize and develop leadership talent already present in the hospital. Wallace also guided the hospital to achieve and maintain the UDS top 10% performance status.

Prior to his time with Encompass Health, Wallace worked as a Physical Therapist for Rehab at Home and CHRISTUS St. Michael Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Texarkana. Wallace attended Southern Arkansas University and completed his master’s degree in physical therapy at the University of Central Arkansas.
