Patient returns home after relearning to walk following his spinal demyelination diagnosis

The life of 55-year-old David Robinson completely changed when he was diagnosed with Spinal Demyelination in February 2023. A diagnosis that left him paralyzed and unable to move. He became a patient at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Abilene to regain his independence. A month later, he completed his rehabilitation and began to walk again. Robinson said although he still has a long road to recovery, he is proud of the small steps he is able to take now.

Boyd Davis III has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Abilene. In his position as CEO, Davis oversees all day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 6401 Directors Parkway in Abilene, Texas. He assumed the position in August 2022.

Daryl Fields recently returned home from Encompass Health of Abilene after spending more than 100 days in the hospital recovering from COVID-19, including nearly 70 days in inpatient rehabilitation.

Daryl Fields spent the last four months in the ICU battling COVID-19, where he was put on ventilator and medically induced coma. He does not remember his hospital stay from July to October, but recently was able to begin his final stage of recovery at Encompass Health of Abilene.

Todd Wallace has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Abilene. In his position as CEO, Wallace will oversee all of the day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality at the 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 6401 Directors Parkway. He assumed the position on July 1, 2021.
