Daryl Fields spent the last four months in the ICU battling COVID-19, where he was put on ventilator and medically induced coma. He does not remember his hospital stay from July to October, but recently was able to begin his final stage of recovery at Encompass Health of Abilene where he will regain his strength and functionality in inpatient rehabilitation. He has already seen progress – Daryl said he passed his swallow test for the first time – and when asked about returning home, he says “I can’t wait.
