Encompass Health of New England demonstrates commitment to excellence by achieving recertification for stroke rehabilitation program

BOSTON, Mass., Dec. 22, 2021 – Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of New England recently achieved recertification for Disease-Specific Care from The Joint Commission for its stroke rehabilitation program at all three hospital campuses, including in Woburn, Beverly and Lowell. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

The inpatient rehabilitation hospital underwent a rigorous survey for recertification of the stroke program. During the review, a Joint Commission expert surveyor evaluated compliance with disease certification standards. The surveyor also conducted virtual observations and interviews.

“Encompass Health of New England is pleased to be recertified for its stroke rehabilitation program at all three hospital campuses from The Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” said David Coggins, CEO of the Encompass Health of New England. “Continuing to prioritize these certifications is evidence of our hospital’s commitment to provide high-quality care to each patient we have the privilege to serve. Our interdisciplinary teams from across the organization continue to collaborate and utilize advanced technologies to help patients reach their rehabilitation goals with a focus on care excellence.”

The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help hospitals measure, assess and improve performance. The Joint Commission has accredited hospitals for more than 60 years. More than 4,000 general, children’s, long-term acute, psychiatric, rehabilitation and specialty hospitals currently maintain accreditation from The Joint Commission.
