Scott Butler named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill

Scott ButlerROCKHILL, S.C., June 3, 2022 – Scott A. Butler has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Rock Hill. In his position as CEO, Butler oversees all of the day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 1795 Dr. Frank Gaston Blvd. He assumed the position in February 2022.

Butler began his career in the marketing and community relations department at Schuyler Hospital in 2004. Over time, he transitioned from taking on roles that were primarily focused on marketing to more operational and administrative positions including vice president of strategy and market development at Lake Erie Regional Health System of New York and chief operating officer at TLC Health Network. Butler then served as chief executive officer at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville and most recently as chief executive officer at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Myers. During his five year tenure at Select Medical, he managed more than 200 employees and an operating budget of $25 million. He was responsible for establishing quality and safety measures, managing business and community partnerships, developing and implementing quality improvement guidelines, and securing and maintaining hospital licenses. In these CEO roles, Butler exceeded benchmark indicators for infection rates and patient injuries, led a digital transformation strategy to move away from paper record keeping, and achieved the hospital’s highest employee satisfaction scores while reducing voluntary turnover.

Butler earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the State University of New York College at Geneseo and a master’s degree in business administration from Rochester Institute of Technology. Butler is also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
