Susan Hart named CEO of Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital

Susan Hart, CEO Cardinal HillLEXINGTON, Ky., June 24, 2022 – Susan Hart has been appointed as chief executive officer of Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital. In her position as CEO, Hart oversees all of the day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 232-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 2050 Versallies Road in Lexington, Kentucky. She assumed the position in March 2022.

Hart has more than 18 years of experience in various post-acute care settings. She most recently served as chief operating officer of Wesley Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, and associate administrator at MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital, where she completed her CEO training. Prior to serving in these Encompass Health leadership roles, she served in multiple therapy and leadership roles at Piedmont Columbus Regional for more than 12 years, including as director of inpatient rehabilitation and therapy services for her final two years. In this role, she was responsible for more than 150 employees, and she made significant contributions to the hospital, including increasing patient admissions, implementing a stroke education program for patients and families, increased individualized therapy sessions, and implemented a fall prevention program. She previously served as an occupational therapist at a number of health systems, including Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Erie.

Hart earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in occupational therapy from the Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, and her doctorate of occupational therapy, administration, and practice management from Rocky Mountain University of Health Science. She is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified and is board certified and a member of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
