Randy Gross named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise

Randy Gross CEOSUNRISE, Fla., July 5, 2022 – Randy Gross has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise. In his position as CEO, Gross oversees all day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 126-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 4399 Nob Hill Road. He assumed the position in May 2022.

Randy brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience as a chief executive officer and chief operating officer in acute care hospital settings to his new role at Encompass Health,” said Lori Bedard, President of Encompass Health’s Southeast region. “His expertise makes him a great fit to lead our hospital in Sunrise, and I am confident he will make positive contributions at the hospital and in the local community.”

Gross began his healthcare career as an administrative resident at Baptist Hospital East in Kentucky. Following his residency, Gross later became the Associate Administrator and then Chief Operating Officer at HCA Healthcare’s Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Florida. At this 235-bed acute care hospital, he co-led the execution of a $55M master plan expansion project to increase bed count and developed a new outpatient service line for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. For the following 12 years, Gross served as CEO and COO at HCA hospitals in several cities, including Webster-Texas, Plantation, and Miami in South Florida.  During his tenure at HCA, Gross implemented innovative strategies and capital programs to provide volume growth and service enhancements resulting in increased overall financial performance for the hospitals. Under his leadership, hospitals gained national recognition through numerous Healthgrades awards, including “250 Best Hospitals,” “Patient Safety Excellence,” and “Physician Satisfaction of Administration.” In his most recent role as CEO of Broward Health Imperial Point in Fort Lauderdale, Gross implemented positive changes throughout the pandemic, including optimizing system integration, leading physician recruitment, and further developing EMS partnerships to ensure the safety of patients and staff.  He consistently improved financial performance, comprehensive service lines, and increased patient volumes throughout his years of experience.

Gross earned a dual master’s degree in business and health services administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Gross is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and previously served as a Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce board member. During Gross’s career, he has served in leadership roles of various community organizations, including Communities in Schools of Bay Area, Plantation Chamber of Commerce, Kissimmee Chamber of Commerce, March of Dimes, Park Place Behavioral Health, and Central Florida Healthcare Executive Group.
