Randy Gross named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise

Randy Gross has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise. In his position as CEO, Gross oversees all day-to-day operations, as well as patient care and quality, at the 126-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital located at 4399 Nob Hill Road. He assumed the position in May 2022.

We celebrated Leslie Leibowitz and her 30+ year nursing career. Leslie has been a CRRN nurse manager for six years at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise. She will be missed by us all, and we wish her the best in her next chapter of life. Happy Retirement Leslie!

Kelly is 29 years old and came to Encompass Health Sunrise for her comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program. She is seen here visiting with Molly, our wonderful therapy dog. Marina Condurelis was excited to try out her the new EksoRn with her physical therapist, Karla Santis Diaz! The EksoNR is the next generation gait-assist, lower-body powered exoskeleton for physical and neurorehabilitation by Ekso Bionics. It assists with gait training and ambulation for patients after having a stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury.

Stephanie came to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sunrise to recover from COVID-19-related pneumonia and a resulting stroke. She enjoyed filming her progress to share with her family back in Turks and Caicos. On admission, she required substantial assistance for all functional tasks and by discharge she left walking without a walker and could complete daily activities independently. Way to go Stephanie!

Our team works hard to get our patients back to the actives that are important to them. For Diana, that was walking her beloved dog. Thanks to Lauren, Diana got lots of practice during therapy and hopefully will be home soon walking her pup.

Our Brain Injury team leads Stacy Williams, IP manager, and Vicente Cavalida, senior physical therapist, presented articles of evidence-based research on how exercise positively effects cognition. Then they tested the research with hospital staff. Participants got to see how an exercise program positively affected their own cognition after exercise.
