At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Alexandria, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.

Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Hospital happenings

Kyle Deville went to urgent care on Feb. 19 thinking it was a cold. It was actually COVID-19. He received a shot and was sent home. For a short time, he was doing great, but soon took a turn for the worse. He entered the hospital with an oxygen saturation of 73%. Once his condition stablized, he was transferred to Encompass Health Alexandria, so he could regain his strength, he could return home to his little girl.

Congratulations Debra Lemoine for being named our Employee of the Year! She demonstrates distinguished service and always goes above and beyond to ensure that we have everything needed to stock our PPE carts, and she stocks them herself if she sees they are running low. She is always pleasant and has a smile on her face and a helpful attitude. We are very thankful that we have Debra on our team. Prior to her hospital stay, Cynthia had never been away from her husband, Alvin. When hospital staff learned that their 50th wedding anniversary was happening during her stay, they worked to coordinate a drive through 50th anniversary party. Joanna Williams, RN, BSN, MSN-HCM has been the chief nursing officer since June 2015, overseeing nursing, respiratory therapy, wound care, infection control, and dietary services.

Joanna Williams, RN, BSN, MSN-HCM has been the chief nursing officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria since June 2015, overseeing nursing, respiratory therapy, wound care, infection control, and dietary services. Vasudeva Dhulipala, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Dhulipala has been the medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria since 1994.

Dr. Dhulipala has been the medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria since 1994. Prior to coming to Encompass Health, Dr. Dhulipala served as a staff physiatrist at the V. A. Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama; the associate medical director for South Louisiana Rehabilitation Hospital in Baton Rouge; and the medical director for Franklin Foundation Hospital. He began his medical education at Kurnool Medical College in India. He completed his residency at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Dhulipala has been certified since 1990 by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Dhulipala is an independent private practice physician.

Vicki brings more than 20 years of rehab experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria where she has been employed since 1996. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy in 1989. Vicki also serves on the Louisiana Occupational Therapy Association Board.

Larry is the Controller for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria.

Larry is the controller for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria. He has worked in the healthcare industry for the past four decades in various financial management capacities. Larry has functioned as a chief financial officer for acute medical hospitals, acute psychiatric hospitals, a freestanding physical rehabilitation facility as well as various outpatient settings. Larry served in the U.S. Army on active duty from 1966 to 1969 and as a member of the Army reserve until 1972 when he was discharged as an Infantry Captain. He graduated from Indiana University with a major in accounting in 1972 and graduated from Nova University with a Master of Business Administration in 1988.

Brittany has been the director of case management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria since January 2021.

Brittany has been the director of case management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria since January 2021. Prior to assuming the director role, she was a case manager for Encompass Health for five years. Her prior nursing experience includes emergency room, labor and delivery and community care nursing. She obtained her associate degree in nursing from Louisiana State University at Eunice in 2012, is board certified in case management, and is currently enrolled in a BSN program with projected completion date of April 2022. She values teamwork and is a dedicated to ensuring that each patient receives compassionate, holistic, patient-centered maximizing patient outcomes and facilitating a safe transition home.

Lennisha brings a combination of more than 25 years of healthcare experience and 15 years of human resources expertise to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Alexandria. An Alexandria native, she completed her associate's degree and bachelor's degree with a concentration in human resources management from the University of Phoenix. Lennisha is a member of Central Louisiana Society for Human Resources Management (CLSHRM) and holds a certificate in Leadership Development Central Louisiana from Louisiana State University at Alexandria.
