Chief Executive Officer
Vidhya joined Encompass Health in June 2010 and served in various therapy leadership positions and as the director of therapy operations at the hospital in Northern Virginia. In addition to completing the self-paced CEO program within Encompass Health, she has led multiple high impact projects successfully and served in the inclusion and diversity council. Vidhya’s clinical background includes a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Shenandoah University and more than 18 years of experience serving in clinical and operational roles in varied healthcare settings. She takes pride in leading an exceptional team of staff who strive for excellence while focusing on restoring patients independence and promoting safety through evidence-informed practices.
Director of Case Management
Dr. Cottingham joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of East Valley in 2022 as the director of case management. Prior to that, Stephanie provided therapy across the care continuum for almost 20 years as a physical therapist specializing in neurological disorders and rehabilitation. She earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Colorado State University and doctorate of physical therapy from A.T. Still University. She is a member of the Arizona chapter of Walk with a Doc as well as the Arizona Physical Therapy Directors group. She strives to provide patients and the community she serves an excellent experience with Encompass Health.
Facilities Management Director
Samuel joined Encompass Health at East Valley as facilities management director in 2017. He has more than 18 years of experience managing retail facilities and over nine years of experience in managing healthcare facilities with focus on strategic planning and emergency management systems. He is originally from San Diego and earned his degree from Kearny Mesa college. He supervises the operations at the East Valley location including all buildings sections and grounds, utilities, energy management systems and safety/security systems in order to provide a safe, healthy and comfortable environment for the patients and staff.
Area Director of Business Development
Curtis is the area business development director for East Valley and Scottsdale and has oversight of all marketing and communication functions for the hospital. He brings experience in rehabilitation healthcare and proven success in brand positioning and community marketing. Prior to joining Encompass Health, Curtis was the assistant department head with rehabilitation management. Curtis’s previous hospital experience includes, Genesis, Camden Clark Memorial and Charleston Area Medical Center Health System. Curtis is a graduate of Mountain State University with an associate's degree and is a certified occupational therapist.
Chief Nursing Officer
Samantha began her career at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of East Valley in 2010 and quickly found her passion for rehabilitation nursing. She has worked in a variety of clinical roles prior to becoming chief nursing officer of Encompass Health East Valley in 2013. Samantha earned her master’s degree in nursing and executive leadership at Saint Xavier University.
Director of Therapy Operations
Kathy has been practicing in the field of physical therapy for 18 years. After earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an interest in sports medicine, she elected to follow a career in physical therapy. She began her career as a physical therapist assistant and certified athletic trainer in 1994, and completed a master’s degree in physical therapy from Loma Linda University, Southern California in 2000. Kathy’s passion to help others culminated in receiving her doctorate of physical therapy degree from A.T. Still University in 2008. Kathy’s entire career has been in the adult inpatient and rehabilitation setting. She is a member of the Phoenix Physical Therapy Directors group and the American Physical Therapy Association.
Controller
David began his career with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of East Valley in June 2017. As a native, born and raised in Mesa, he graduated from Arizona State University with bachelor's degrees in both finance and Japanese. His finance career began in 2003. Since then, he has influenced financial outcomes for various sectors including defense and commercial airlines ultimately finding his passion in the healthcare industry in 2009.
Director of Quality & Risk
Katherine holds a master's degree in legal studies with a concentration in compliance and legal risk management from the University of Arizona and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Azusa Pacific University. Katherine’s 16-year nursing career has spanned five states with experience in public health, family care practice, urgent care and most notably in occupational health & safety. She joined Encompass Health in 2019 as an acute care nurse who later became the infection preventionist and continues to serve on the diversity, equity and inclusion team.
Director of Pharmacy, West Regional Director of Pharmacy
Dr. Renée Tyree is the pharmacy director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in East Valley as well as the regional director of pharmacy for Encompass Health’s west region, which includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. A dedicated, results focused and accomplished pharmacy leader, she received her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona and her master’s degree in health administration from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Tyree is a practicing pharmacist with more than 20 years of experience in hospital pharmacy management, building teams and partnering with pharmacists, physicians and hospital leaders to optimize clinical, financial and operational performance. In her position as the regional pharmacy director for Encompass Health’s west region, she creates a culture for success and sets a positive direction for accomplishing clinical and operational initiatives. She received the University of Arizona Pharmacy Practice and Leadership Award for her ability to support teams in delivering leading pharmaceutical care to patients. Dr. Tyree is a former elite Paralympic athlete, having competed in three Paralympic Games on three medal winning basketball teams, she has been a role model not only for other women athletes but for people with disabilities. She is a pioneer in women’s sports and is a disability advocate who serves on the National Board of Directors of the United Spinal Association. Dr. Tyree brings her clinical expertise in pharmaceutical care and rehabilitation medicine, her personal life experiences and passion to Encompass Health.
