Chief Executive Officer
John joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence in January 2024 as the chief executive officer. He is an experienced healthcare leader who has served in various administrative leadership positions over his 30-year career in healthcare. Most recently, John served as chief executive officer for Community Hospital Corporation at one of their long-term acute care hospitals in South Carolina and before that, he was chief executive officer at another one of their hospitals in Kentucky. John holds a master’s degree in business administration from Keller Graduate School of Business as well as a master’s degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing.
Medical Director
Dr. Lorenz comes to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence with more than 15 years of experience as a medical director of an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation specializing in spasticity management and electromyography (EMG).
Dr. Lorenz is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Human Resources
Lafreda joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence in 2018 with more than 20 years’ experience in Human Resources Management. She has a bachelor’s degree in human resource management and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Lafreda is a member of the national Society of Human Resources management. Lafreda and her husband have two children.
Chief Nursing Officer
Ashley joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence in December 2023 as the chief nursing officer. Ashley has many years of leadership and medical-surgery experience. Most recently she was employed as a nursing director with McLeod Health on the surgical floor. She will earn her master's degree in healthcare administration in January 2024 from Capella University.
Director of Case Management
Ann has worked in the healthcare field for 22 years. She has worked in many departments of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence including four years as a marketing representative and two years in admissions. Ann joined the case management department in August 2009 and now oversees the daily operations of case management; ensuring services are delivered to meet the needs of patients and families. Ann received her bachelor's degree from Francis Marion College.
Controller
Jackie has been the controller for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence since March 2015. In her role, she oversees the following departments, HIMS, purchasing, accounts payable and Payroll. Jackie has been in the healthcare environment within a hospital for more than 20 years holding various financial management positions. She is a graduate of Francis Marion University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with emphasis in management. She was a member and actively involved with South Carolina HFMA for more than eight years and served on the board. Jackie has two daughters and resides in Lake City with her husband.
