Chief Executive Officer
Liz Mahon was named chief executive officer of Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden in June 2021 and brings more than 25 years’ healthcare leadership experience in acute care, outpatient, home health and inpatient rehabilitation settings to the role. Liz holds a doctor of physical therapy from the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of St Mary, Leavenworth, Kansas. In addition, she is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Medical Director
Dr. Rajendran serves as the medical director at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden. Previously, he served as the medical director at an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Rome, GA. Dr. Rajendran received his medical degree from Sri Ramachandra University (A Harvard Medical International Affiliated Institution in southern India). He completed his residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Raj brings a wealth of experience in acute care, long term acute care, palliative care, and inpatient rehabilitation. He places a lot of emphasis on integrating medical treatment with lifestyle changes, nutritional, mental and emotional health to complement evidence-based practice.
Dr. Rajendran is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Case Management
Leslie brings 23 years of nursing experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden. In 2013, she transferred to Encompass Health Gadsden from HealthSouth Lakeshore in Birmingham, Alabama, where she held multiple roles as a staff nurse, weekend nurse supervisor and PPS coordinator. She began her career at HealthSouth Gadsden as a case manager and was promoted to the director position in 2016. Leslie is a Certified Case Manger and Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse and is currently furthering her education at Southern New Hampshire University.
Director of Quality & Risk
Matthew was named director of quality and risk for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden in July 2022. He served as a marketing liaison for two years prior to being promoted to his current position. Prior to Matthew’s time with Encompass Health, he worked as a nursing home administrator for three years. Matthew brings more than 10 years of customer and patient satisfaction experience, as well as experience with regulatory and governing agencies. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Jacksonville State University.
Chief Nursing Officer
Ginny has more than 10 years of experience in the healthcare setting. She began her career with Encompass Health in 2015 as a floor nurse and then serving in the role of charge nurse, supervisor, admission nurse and wound care coordinator. She relocated to Gadsden in 2021 as the chief nursing officer. Ginny obtained her bachelor's degree in nursing from Arkansas State University and her master's degree in hospital administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport, she also obtained her Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing in 2018.
Director of Pharmacy
Trevor was named director of pharmacy for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden in July 2021. He brings more than 10 years of pharmacy experience in areas including hospital, retail, chemotherapy and compounding. He has practiced for four years as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital setting. Trevor completed his undergraduate courses at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Samford University.
Director of Therapy Operations
Janet has been with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden since 2002 and has worked in both the inpatient and outpatient departments. She specializes in stroke rehabilitation. Janet graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation services and received her master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Business Development Director
Hunter began her nursing career with Gadsden Regional Medical Center, where she was employed for 10 years. She graduated from Gadsden State Community College with her nursing degree in May 2011. In July 2011, she became a staff nurse and employee health nurse with the occupational health clinic. A few years later, she was promoted to the director of occupational health. As director, she earned her certifications in DOT, CAOHC and spirometry training. In January 2018, she began her career with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden, as a rehab liaison. In this position, Hunter was cross-trained as a hybrid liaison, working in the field, as well as an admissions liaison, within the admissions office. She trained co-workers in the rehab and admissions liaison role and in August 2021 was appointed to the interim BDD position before taking on the position full time.
Director of Facilities Management
Phil has more than 39 years of plant operations experience and has served for over 13 years as a director in an acute hospital. He joined Encompass Health Gadsden in 2015 and works to oversee security and is a safety officer member of the Alabama Society of HealthCare Engineers (ALSHE).
Controller
Bethany joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden in April 2022. She has 10 years of experience in healthcare settings. Bethany holds a bachelor's degree in management from Jacksonville State University.
Human Resources Director
Rhonda joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Gadsden in 2015 as Human Resources Director. Rhonda has more than 30 years of experience in human resources and recruitment having previously worked with Health Management Associates at the hospital and corporate level and Tenet Healthcare.
