Located in Huntsville, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury, hip fracture and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions. Setting the standard in high-quality care, our hospital holds disease-specific certifications from The Joint Commission in stroke rehabilitation, brain injury rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation and hip fracture rehabilitation.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

On Oct. 21, a small, COVID-19 mindful groundbreaking ceremony was held to celebrate the future home of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama. The new 76-bed hospital will replace our current location, which has proudly served more than 45,000 individuals since it opened in May 1987, and will be located at the southwest corner of Hwy 72 and Moores Mill Road in Huntsville, Alabama. It’s expected to begin serving patients in the spring of 2022.

Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Anderson came to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama as medical director in July 1991. He received his doctor of osteopathic medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and also as an independent medical examiner. Dr. Anderson has a broad-based rehabilitation practice including inpatient and outpatient medicine.
Dr. Anderson is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Case Management
Deb has been the director of case management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama since 2014. Deb has been a certified rehabilitation nurse, (CRRN) since 2012 and is also an accredited case manager (ACM). She has been a nurse for more than 30 years. Deb received her bachelor's degree in human services from Martin Methodist College. She has lived in the North Alabama/South Tennessee area for more than 25 years.
Tyler joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama in 2009 as an inpatient accountant at the corporate office. He moved to Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital as an accounting manager in November 2016 to gain knowledge of healthcare industry at the facility level. In January 2018 he transferred to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Memphis as the controller. Then he moved to Encompass Health of North Alabama in Huntsville as controller. He is a graduate from Auburn University class of 2007 and passed the CPA exam in 2012.
Health Information Management Services Director
Jana joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation of North Alabama in 2015. Jana holds bachelor's degrees from Birmingham-Southern College and University of Alabama at Birmingham. Jana has over 24 years of varied health information management experience. She earned her juris doctorate from Birmingham school of law. She has maintained her registered health information administrator credential since 1995.

Erica has been the director of quality/risk management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama since 2015. She has over 24 years of nursing experience in providing and supervising quality nursing care to patients. She has been a certified rehabilitation nurse since 2013. She is a lifelong resident of North Alabama. Erica received her nursing degrees from Calhoun Community College and the University of North Alabama.
Director of Therapy Operations
Chelsea has served as the director of therapy operations since March of 2018. She began her career with Encompass Health in 2011 in Evansville, Indiana and transferred to North Alabama two years later. Chelsea is a graduate of Purdue University and later earned her master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Indianapolis. Chelsea has specialized in the evaluation and treatment of brain injury and neurological disorders and earned her certification in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT).
