Wound care

Recover with expert wound care and education tailored to your unique needs.

Getting started with wound care in rehabilitation

If you or a loved one are recovering from surgery, an amputation or a condition that affects your skin and circulation, proper wound care is an important part of healing. We take a team approach to wound care. Our nurses—some specially trained in wound care—therapists, dietitians and doctors work together to treat your wound and help prevent complications like infection or limited movement.

Our proven therapies have helped patients recover from surgical and post-surgical wounds, localized incisions, infected or draining wounds, pressure ulcers with complications, multiple Stage 2 wounds and Stage 3 or 4 wounds, among others. We also care for wounds associated with amputations, diabetic ulcers, necrotizing fasciitis, osteomyelitis, peripheral artery disease, venous stasis, post-trauma wounds, burns and arterial wounds.

What's included in your wound care:

Personalized treatment to help improve healing, reduce pain and prevent serious complications. We also focus on educating you and your family—helping you understand how to care for your wound, protect your skin, and stay safe and independent after you leave the hospital.
  • Nutrition for healing: Good nutrition is essential to help wounds heal. Our dietitians will work with you to create a plan that supports your recovery and fits your individual needs.
  • Medication management: To help avoid drug interactions or side effects, our pharmacy team reviews and manages your medications with a process called medication reconciliation. This ensures you receive the right medications for your condition and recovery.
  • Support after amputation: If you’ve experienced limb loss, we offer customized training and support. From prosthetic fitting and care to mobility training and skin protection, our team helps you rebuild strength and confidence.
