At Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Homewood and serving the greater Birmingham area, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Have you experienced a stroke or brain injury resulting in weakness? Would you be willing to serve as a practicum participant in a neurodevelopmental education course? The course is being held at Encompass Health Lakeshore April 27-May 8 for licensed physical and occupational therapists. Part of their training includes hands on application of the skills they learn. Practicum sessions are a minimum of 1.5 hours, and sessions are offered in mornings and afternoons. If you are interested in participating, contact Kristina Schroder at 205-761-0750.

Chief Executive Officer
Michael was named as Encompass Health Lakeshore’s CEO in July 2018. No stranger to the Encompass Health network, he previously served as CEO of Encompass Health’s hospital in Phenix City, Alabama, and as the associate administrator at the Company’s hospital in Sarasota, Florida. His other experience includes serving as a director of a product line and a vice president of marketing and business development in acute care hospitals in California. Michael received a master’s degree in public health specializing in health administration from Loma Linda University and a bachelor’s degree in health science from Fresno Pacific University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Dr. Rosemore joined the medical staff of Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital in March 2003. He served as interim medical director starting July 2013 and was named permanent medical director in June 2014. Dr. Rosemore completed his undergraduate education at the University of South Alabama and in 1986 he earned his doctorate at Nova Southeastern Osteopathic Medical School. He completed his family medicine residency at University of Alabama Hospital in 1989 as chief resident. He has been an active faculty member as assistant clinical professor and has been the primary investigator in over 200 clinical trials. Dr. Rosemore was medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation program at HealthSouth Medical Center from 1997-2003.

Director of Human Resources
Kathy joined Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital in 2016. She received her undergraduate degree in business administration from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and obtained an MBA in 2018 from Columbia College. Kathy has more than 20 years of experience in human resources serving in health care and the call center industry. She currently holds her Professional Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resources- Certified Professional) certifications.
Area Business Development Director
Rebecca joined Encompass Health in 2016 as a rehabilitation liaison at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital prior to being named business development director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Shelby County in 2019. Rebecca is a registered nurse and brings with her more than 25 years of leadership and clinical experience. Prior to joining Encompass Health, she was area vice president for Amedisys and was responsible for seven locations in Alabama. Rebecca received her nursing degree from the University of West Alabama and has held her RN license since 1995.
Chief Nursing Officer
April began her career at Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital in 2002, serving as the hospital’s nurse manager. In 2013, she was named as the chief nursing officer. April has over 19 years of experience in acute care and rehabilitation nursing with her certification as a rehabilitation nurse. She currently holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Director, Health Information Management (HIM)
Jacki originally joined Encompass Health in 2007 as director of health information management services for Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in Phenix City, Ala.. She transferred to Lakeshore in 2018. She has more than twenty-five years of experience in health information management and compliance. Prior to joining Encompass Health, Jacki served as the HIM director for Quillen Rehabilitation Center, Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital and Summit Hospital. She obtained her degree from East Tennessee State University and she is RHIT certified through the AHIMA. In addition to her role as director of HIM, Jacki also serves as the HIPAA officer and the HIM advisor for the South Central Region of Encompass Health.
Zach joined Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2021 as the associate administrator. Zach is a graduate of Auburn University and holds a doctorate degree of physical therapy from the University of South Alabama along with a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina. Zach brings more than ten years of experience in healthcare administration and leadership, most recently he was the senior director of professional and support services for Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee.
Plant Operations Director
Jimmy began his career at Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital in 1989 and was named director of plant operations in 2010. He has more than 26 years experience as an electrician and an extensive background in maintenance, building automation, and technical and hazardous waste.
Director of Quality & Risk
Katy joined Encompass Health in 2016 as a quality & risk coordinator. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and her master’s degree in biomedical ethics from Albany Medical College. Then, in 2015, she earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. Prior to joining Encompass Health Lakeshore, Katy held an ethics committee post with Children’s Hospital of Alabama and served as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court of Northern Alabama. Additionally, Katy is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt.
Case Management Director
Miranda is a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work and is a licensed social worker. She joined Lakeshore in 2014 as a case manager and achieved her case management certification in 2015. In 2018 Miranda was promoted to the director of case management. Before joining Encompass Health Lakeshore, Miranda worked for the Shelby County Department of Human Resources in Adult and Child Protective Services.
Director of Therapy Operations
Kristina began her career with Encompass Health in 2010 as an occupational therapist in Plano, Texas and was quickly promoted into a therapy lead role. She served as an interim director of case management and was promoted to the position of regional patient assessment standards coordinator and trainer for the Encompass Health’s Southwest Region where she was responsible for 30 hospitals. Kristina obtained her master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Indianapolis. She received her master’s degree in health administration from the University of Ohio. She joined the Lakeshore team as director of therapy operations in 2019.
Chief Financial Officer
Kim re-joined the Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital team in 2011. She has over 20 years of experience in acute and rehabilitation healthcare settings. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Kim is also a Certified Public Accountant.
