At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Arlington and serving the surrounding areas including Waxahachie and Mansfield, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, hip fracture, cardiac conditions and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.

Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Ty Taplin
Ty Taplin

Chief Executive Officer

Ty has worked in a variety of healthcare roles starting his career as a human resources manager then moving into leadership roles.

Ty Taplin joined Encompass Health Arlington in May 2018. As CEO, he oversees the day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality at the inpatient rehabilitation hospital. He comes to Encompass Health Arlington after serving as CEO of Kindred Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ty has worked in a variety of healthcare roles starting his career as a human resources manager then moving into leadership roles such as executive fellow, associate administrator and CEO. A graduate of Dallas Baptist University, he completed his master’s degree in business administration. He also holds a second master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Mark Bussell, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Bussell has been affiliated with Encompass Health since 1994.

Dr. Bussell has been affiliated with Encompass Health since 1994. He earned a medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed an internship at the Swedish Covenant Hospital and his residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago-McGaw Medical Center. Dr. Bussell is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Society and American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Dr. Bussell is an independent private practice physician.

ANTONIO CARRION, PharmD, MPH, AAHIVP, CPh

Pharmacy Director

Dr. Carrion graduated cum laude from the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida A&M University.

Dr. Antonio Carrion graduated cum laude from the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida A&M University (FAMU) with a doctorate in pharmacy. After graduation, he completed a post-graduate year one residency in ambulatory care/HIV at FAMU, in collaboration with the Leon County Health Department. He then obtained a master’s degree in public health, with a focus in health policy and management, from the Institute of Public Health at FAMU. Dr. Carrion is a board-certified HIV pharmacist, vaccine pharmacist and consultant pharmacist.

Katherine joined the team as chief financial officer in June 2008.

Katherine joined the team as chief financial officer in June 2008. She is a certified public accountant and has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southwestern Adventist University. Katherine has nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare finance and administration.

Barbara Eaton

Director of Case Management

Barbara has been with Encompass Health since September 1995.

Barbara has been with Encompass Health since September 1995. She started in Midland as a case manager, then was promoted to director of case management. She also served as the regional case management trainer for the Southwest region. She recently relocated to Arlington from Encompass Health’s Round Rock hospital location and has been at Encompass Health Arlington since March 2019.

Erin joined Encompass as the human resources director in 2019.

Erin joined Encompass as the human resources director in 2019. As a healthcare HR professional with more than 20 years of experience. Erin is dedicated to providing our team the development, support and resources they need so they can provide the very best care for our patients. Erin holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University, an MBA from Texas Woman’s University, and is dually certified in human resources by the Society of Human Resource Management and the Human Resource Certification Institute. She has previously served on the board of directors of the Dallas Fort Worth Healthcare Human Resources Association and is bilingual in Spanish.

Gina began her career with Encompass Health as a physical therapist in 2012.

Gina began her career with Encompass Health as a physical therapist in 2012, quickly moved into a senior physical therapist role, and was promoted to the director of therapy services in 2022. She is proud to lead an outstanding therapy department that delivers compassionate, high-quality and research based interventions. Gina graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a doctorate in physical therapy from Marquette University in 2012.

Lindsey brings more than 10 years of accomplished healthcare marketing and business development experience.

Lindsey brings more than 10 years of accomplished healthcare marketing and business development experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington. She originally started her healthcare marketing career with Encompass Health's Dallas market center market in 2009 and then joined the Encompass Health Arlington team in 2011. She has served as senior liaison for five years prior to becoming business development director. Lindsey graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in child development from Southwest Texas State University and with a master’s degree of occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University.

Vicki joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington in 2013 and has held many leadership roles.

Vicki joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington in 2013 and has held many leadership roles such as nurse supervisor, nurse manager, chief nursing officer, director of quality and regional trainer. As the director of quality, Vicki focuses on ensuring that Encompass Health Arlington follows compliance with regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, corporate and hospital policies and procedures. Vicki works to develop, implement and maintain quality assessments as well as improvement programs within the hospital, all while ensuring optimal patient satisfaction.
