At Saint Alphonsus Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. We serve the Boise area as a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Deanna joined the team at Saint Alphonsus Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in December 2021. She previously worked at Encompass Health Rock Hill, Encompass Health Las Vegas and at Encompass Health in Tucson in various roles. She is a registered nurse with 30 years of nursing experience. Deanna has master’s degrees in nursing and business from the University of Phoenix and is a member of the American Academy of Health Care Executives.
Dr. David Wald has practiced medicine for 18 years. He served as medical director for ten years at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL which was recognized for best practices in inpatient rehabilitation. He has presented at national and regional conferences for AMRPA and UDS. He is a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist, completing his residency at Emory University School of Medicine and his medical degree at New York Medical College.
Dr. Wald is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
Megan has more than 20 years of experience in rehabilitation at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing at Boise State University and a master's degree in business administration, health care management from Western Governors University. Additionally, she holds certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse and is a member of AANAC, ARN – National and Idaho chapters, ANA- National and Idaho chapters, ACHE, and Nurse Leaders of Idaho (an AONE affiliate).
Chief Nursing Officer
Lurisa’s passion for rehabilitation nursing comes from her desire to see people overcome unforeseen life changing events. She graduated with her nursing degree in 2012 and joined the rehabilitation department in 2014. She achieved her certification in rehabilitation, her CRRN in 2016. Lurisa’s nursing background includes labor and delivery and pediatric home health. Her years of leadership experience is dedicated to achieving the best outcome of our patients.
Ashley graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor's and master's degree in accountancy. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Idaho and has a background in public accounting and healthcare. Prior to joining Saint Alphonsus Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, Ashley worked for St. Luke's Health System for seven years in various roles, the most recent being a director of finance/senior finance business partner in financial operations. Ashley is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Human Resources Director
Emily joined Encompass Health in 2022. She has been in healthcare human resources and back office support for almost 10 years. Previously, she held positions in payroll, accounts payable, compliance and other finance specific roles. In moving to healthcare, she has found fulfillment in supporting clinicians as they serve our community, and being one part of the gear that makes a hospital tick.
Director of Plant Operations
Eric Sutton has been in the healthcare industry for 10 years with the last five years being in plant operations management and has been involved in many successful Joint Commission surveys. Prior to the healthcare industry, Eric spent 20 years in the construction management then moved to Boise and joined the Saint Alphonsus Regional Rehabilitation Hospital team as the facilities management director. His responsibilities include EVS, plant operations, safety and security.
Director of Pharmacy
Rob joined the Encompass Health team in June 2019. He graduated from Roseman University of Health Sciences in South Jordan, Utah with his doctorate in pharmacy. Prior to moving to Boise, he worked as lead clinical pharmacist at Jordan Valley Medical Center in West Jordan, Utah. Rob has worked in various roles including intensive care, acute care, telemetry, emergency room and rehabilitation. His passion is working with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and make a positive impact on those around him.
