Joseph brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie. He has served in progressive leadership roles throughout his career, including quality and risk management and executive nursing leadership. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. He also holds master’s degrees in both healthcare and business administration.

Dr. Raj is a board-certified physiatrist who serves as the medical director for Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie. Before coming to Bowie, he served as the associate medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Richardson. He earned his bachelor's degree at Duke University. He received his medical training at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Raj is an independent private practice physician.

With more than 17 years of healthcare experience, Jamie brings a variety of experience that includes acute care, academia and outpatient settings. She holds a certification as a board-certified medical surgical nurse and has experience in orthopedic nursing. Additionally, Jamie has held several nursing leadership roles, with a focus in nursing operations and strategic planning. Jamie received her associate degree from Anne Arundel Community College and her bachelor's degree in nursing from Walden University. She then earned her master's degree in health systems leadership and management from University of Maryland in 2021. Jamie has a passion for promoting high quality, safe patient care.

With more than 20 years of healthcare case management experience, DC native Crystal finds fulfillment in working with interdisciplinary teams to help patients receive the best care and achieve the best outcomes possible. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in social work from Howard University. She has also earned a certified case manager credential. Crystal joined Encompass Health as a case manager in 2021 and now serves as director of case management at Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie.

Laurie joined Encompass Health in 2018 serving as controller of Encompass Health of Mechanicsburg where she led a broad department covering accounting, environmental services and plant operations before transferring to Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie in 2023. She has more than 13 years of healthcare accounting experience. Laurie earned a bachelor's degree from Penn State University.

Justin joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie in 2023 as the facilities management director. He oversees environmental services, maintenance, dietary services and security. He brings a wealth of knowledge with experience in carpentry, plumbing, locksmithing, electrical and HVAC. He has a background in federal law enforcement.

Nicole joined Rehabilitation Hospital of Bowie in March 2023, bringing more than 10 years of healthcare experience in acute care and inpatient settings. Her career with Encompass Health started in Bryan, Texas in September 2016 as a rehab liaison, helping patients gain access to acute rehabilitation. She advanced in her position from rehab liaison to senior rehab liaison before being promoted as business development director. Nicole earned both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in social work and is a licensed master social worker. Her passion for helping people motivates her to educate the community, medical professionals, patients and families on the benefits of acute rehabilitation.

Dr. Malcolm brings more than 20 years of clinical and leadership experience to Encompass Health. He is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and a geriatric pharmacist, a certified health education specialist, and a professional designee of the Academy for Health Care Management. Dr. Malcolm holds advance certifications and training in medication therapy management, health education/promotion, chronic disease management, clinical preventive care, diabetes education and training, HIV management/prevention, transitions of care/discharge planning and academic teaching and research. Dr. Malcolm graduated from the University of Florida with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Dr. Malcolm also earned a Doctor of Public Health degree from Loma Linda University, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration.

Dr. Wardwell is a licensed physical therapist and Doctor of Physical Therapy graduate from Ithaca College with more than nine years of experience working in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation. He became a board-certified clinical specialist in neurological physical therapy in 2019. Dr. Wardwell has served in a variety of roles, including senior physical therapist, PT neurologic residency program faculty, inpatient therapy manager, and American Physical Therapy Association of the District of Columbia education committee member. He is currently earning his master's degree in business administration and health services administration from the University of South Dakota.

Toni joined the Encompass Health team in February 2023. For more than 23 years, she has served as director of human resources in acute care and long-term care hospitals. Prior to her hospital experience, she worked in home health for more than 10 years. Her professional experience includes employee relations, worker’s compensation, employee benefits, retention strategies and recruitment. Toni has established experience in healthcare regulatory compliance, team building, risk management, training and mentoring and relationship building. Toni holds her bachelor's degree in human resources management from University of Phoenix.
