Sandwich Man gets COVID-19 recovery care at Encompass Health Braintree

Sixty-four year-old Tony Troiano, aka Sandwich Man, was getting treatment for cancer when he contracted COVID-19, which became another battle he had to fight. Due to the isolation and treatments he was receiving, he had not seen his wife, who is also a COVID-19 survivor, in about two and a half months. Thankfully, as part of a parking lot celebration to cheer him on, they were able to reconnect safely through the window. (Source: WBZ)

Due to COVID-19, Chanta has spent the last few months fighting for her life. In March, Chanta was critically ill with COVID-19, requiring intubation and extensive medical treatments. When she came to us for rehabilitation after being hospitalized for a month, she needed two people to stand and had to re-learn how to walk, talk and eat. She also needed supplemental oxygen to breathe. After spending a month at Encompass Health Braintree, Chanta is walking on her own, taking care of herself independently, talking more clearly and does not need supplemental oxygen.

Marc is a retired firefighter who has been battling multiple sclerosis for a long time. With MS, patients may have debilitating symptoms.
