At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Serving Colorado and the greater Colorado Springs area, we are a leading provider of rehabilitation after stroke, Parkinson’s, amputation, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Steve joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in December 2008. He has more than 27 years of leadership experience in the healthcare field. Under his leadership, the hospital has built upon its community reputation for delivering high quality care and exceptional patient experiences. The hospital exceeds benchmarks in patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and employee satisfaction. Steve has extended Encompass Health’s reach and commitment in the community with his involvement with organizations such as the Brain Injury Association of Colorado, Colorado Orthopedic Research Institute, Leadership Pikes Peak, the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association and the Memorial Ownership Task Force.
Medical Director
Dr. Nathaniel Miller is the medical director of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs and serves as the associate medical director of Encompass Health Littleton. He received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Denver and a master’s degree in organic chemistry from CU Denver. He furthered his medical education by receiving his medical doctorate at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and by completing his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Marianjoy in Wheaton, Illinois. Dr. Miller is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation through the ABPMR and AOA as well as traumatic brain injury. His interests include traumatic brain injury, stroke and spasticity management.
Dr. Miller is an independent private practice physician.
Case Management Director
Elizabeth joined Encompass Health in 2019 with over 10 years of experience in the field of social work. As a native of Kansas City, Elizabeth earned her degrees in social work from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in 2009 and master's degree in 2014. As an ACE Master Trainer, Elizabeth thrives at providing a trauma informed care approach when working with our patients. Elizabeth loves to spend time with her husband, two children and three dogs.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
Eric joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in February of 2019, excited to be part of a team that helps people directly, and rehabilitation patients in particular, because they have often endured major trauma, and experience incredible gains in a short recovery period. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in geo-demographic research from Oklahoma State University, which included a fellowship with The New York Times that led to 5 years of employment in New York City, and 25 years of research work for some of the largest fitness, sport and healthcare companies in the world.
Pharmacy Director
Cora joined the Encompass Health Colorado Springs team in 2017 and brings 20 years of pharmacy experience and 11 years in leadership roles to her role as director of pharmacy. She graduated from the Chicago College of Pharmacy at Midwestern University and has since received additional experience and training in leadership and management skills, anticoagulation medication therapy management, palliative medication therapy, and sterile and non-sterile medication compounding. She has a passion for helping patients achieve their optimal health by providing individualized medication therapy recommendations and education as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Director of Therapy Operations
Patrick is the director of therapy operations for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs. He joined the HealthSouth team in 2001; it was then he realized his true passion and talent for rehabilitation. He has more than 13 years of clinical experience. Patrick’s physical therapy career began at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California in 1998. He was born and raised in California where he went on to get his physical therapy degree from the California State University of Sacramento.
Controller
Heather joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in 2022. She is a certified public accountant with 20 years of professional finance and accounting experience. Heather began her career in public accounting as an auditor with Grant Thornton and has held various financial leadership roles in healthcare organizations. Heather is an active member of the AICPA and the Colorado Society of CPAs. Specializing in healthcare finance and administration, Heather enjoys being part of a team that supports members of the community on their healing journeys.
Business Development Director
Marcia brings more than 25 years in healthcare operations, business development and marketing management to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs. She is also a licensed practical nurse in the state of Colorado since 1997. She is passionate about building relationships with patients and their families, and providing support, education and advocacy during difficult times and is committed to assisting patients in returning to the highest level of independence possible.
Human Resources Director
Angela joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in February 2022. She is a dedicated human resources professional with 20 years of experience and is committed to creating a positive and engaged employee environment. During her tenure, Angela has focused on reducing the reliance on contracted staff and replacing them with Encompass Health employees. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs.
Facilities Management Director
Art joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in August 2001. He has over thirty years in healthcare and has been in management since 2005 then became director in 2019. He attended courses at Pikes Peak Community College in the areas of electricity and motors.
Chief Nursing Officer
Chelsee joined the team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in 2009, after moving to Colorado from Indiana. After she obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Purdue University, Chelsee began her nursing career at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. New to Colorado and to rehabilitation, Chelsee quickly found she had a passion for this specialty area of nursing and earned her Certification as a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) in 2011. Chelsee stepped into the role of chief nursing officer in 2019, and enjoys being part of the amazing team at Encompass Health.
