RICK LOWE

Chief Executive Officer

Rick serves as CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming and has more than 30 years of leadership experience.

Rick serves as CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming and has more than 30 years of leadership experience, serving as CEO and other senior leadership roles, for hospitals in Georgia and Florida. He previously served as a Market CEO of two specialty hospitals in the Atlanta area. Prior to that, he held the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for a 436-bed hospital system in Columbus, and Vice President of Operations for a 781-bed hospital system in Pensacola. Rick holds a master’s degree in healthcare management from Troy University, a bachelor’s degree in construction from the University of North Florida and an associate degree in pre med/engineering from Alice Lloyd College.

Gregg A. Soifer
GREGG A. SOIFER, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Soifer joined the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming team in June 2021 as medical director.

Dr. Soifer joined the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming team in June 2021 as medical director after serving in the same role at Encompass Health’s hospital in Dothan since 2012. Prior to joining Encompass Health, he was the medical director of an acute rehabilitation facility in Arizona as well as a sub-acute rehabilitation facility. He also has served as the medical director of an outpatient clinic dedicated to injury medicine. Dr. Soifer has expertise in neuro-muscular-skeletal medicine, which includes pain and functional impairments of a wide variety of disorders, as well as expertise in balance, vertigo and dizziness. He was born and raised in New York.

Dr. Soifer is an independent private practice physician.

Controller

Michael joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming in April of 2021 as part of the hospital’s inaugural leadership team.

Michael joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming in April of 2021 as part of the hospital’s inaugural leadership team. He oversees the financial operations of the hospital and provides support to leadership by equipping them with necessary information and tools. He brings more than 20 years of finance and healthcare administration experience, previously leading financial operations at BayCare Health System and Community Health System facilities in western Florida. A Tucson native, he graduated from the University of Arizona with a duel degree in finance and accounting. Michael has a strong team mentality, a collaborative leadership approach and a passion for process improvement.

MEGAN KUPPLER

Director of Therapy Operations

Megan earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Megan began her professional career with Encompass Health in 2019 as a staff physical therapist. She transferred to Cumming, Georgia upon the opening of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming in 2021. Megan has experience treating patients with varying diagnoses including neurologic, orthopedic, cardiopulmonary and amputation amongst others. Dedicated to improving quality of life for her patients, Megan has a strong passion for creating treatment and discharge plans that help patients achieve their highest level of independence in the community. Megan’s team seeks to provide high-quality compassionate care that sets the standard for rehabilitation. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her undergraduate studies in kinesiology.

Rose brings Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming more than 23 years of clinical experience in nursing and case management.

Rose comes to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming with more than 23 years of clinical experience in nursing and case management. Born in Tennessee, Rose moved to North Carolina on a gymnastic scholarship to North Carolina State University earning a degree in biology with a minor in nutrition. She’s lived in many parts of the United States and has held a variety of case management and nursing roles in specialties including open heart, transplant, neuro, neuro trauma, orthopedic, podiatry, sports medicine and rheumatology. She is excited to help patients regain independence and return to enjoying their activities while improving their quality of life.

CHERYL MISTRY, PharmD, MBA

Director of Pharmacy

Dr. Mistry earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Master of Business Administration at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Mistry earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Master of Business Administration at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia, and has more than 15 years of experience in the pharmacy field. Gaining experience while working in an acute care hospital setting as well as a community retail setting, she understands the need for safe management of medications.  In her previous leadership roles, Dr. Mistry helped create a culture of safety with open communication and problem solving. Her work in process improvement has created department efficiencies and patient satisfaction.  Her professional interest lies in compliance and safe medication management and she looks forward to creating great relationships with the staff and patients.

Business Development Director

Tesia joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming in 2021 as a rehabilitation liaison.

Tesia joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming in 2021 as a rehabilitation liaison. She was promoted to senior rehabilitation liaison where she was able to develop her leadership skills and transition to business development director. Prior to joining Encompass Health, she practiced speech-language pathology for ten years within acute care settings in North Carolina and Georgia with a special interest in dysphagia, completion of instrumental assessments and neurological conditions. Tesia earned her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders at Elmira College and went on to earn her master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. Tesia has transitioned from clinical practice to business development with a strong commitment to patient advocacy to ensure patients receive the optimal level of care.

Ashley serves as the human resources director for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming, bringing more than 15 years of human resources experience to the team. Throughout her career, she has identified areas of opportunity and has implemented best practices to continue to build culture, process and systems. Her experience spans all human resource competencies with particular strength as a change agent, leading through adversity and striking the balance of advocacy for both the organization and its employees. Ashley is a passionate and inclusive leader who believes the key to success is the ability to build trusting relationships while creating a strategic framework.

LYNN WHELAN, DNP, RN, NEA-BC

Chief Nursing Officer

Prior to joining Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming, Lynn served as chief nursing officer at Parkridge East Hospital.

Prior to joining Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming, Lynn served as chief nursing officer at Parkridge East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is originally from the Atlanta area and has worked in nursing leadership positions at Emory Healthcare, Saint Joseph’s, Atlanta Medical Center and Piedmont Hospital. Her clinical background is in critical care with a strong focus in cardiac and neuro nursing. With a passion for coaching and mentoring staff, Lynn has initiated nurse residency programs and coordinated clinical placements for nursing students at each of the hospitals where she has worked.  She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kennesaw State University, her master’s degree in nursing from Emory University and her doctorate degree in nursing practice from The University of Alabama.

Brandy serves as the director of quality and risk at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming.

Brandy serves as the director of quality and risk at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Cumming. Prior to this role, she was the rehabilitation program coordinator at a multi-campus hospital system, with system responsibilities in quality, patient safety, compliance, survey readiness, data management, and staff competencies. Brandy obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Winston-Salem State University. She received her master’s degree in physical therapy from The Ohio State University and her doctorate of physical therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She also holds a credential as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality. With more than 15 years of experience along the healthcare continuum as a licensed physical therapist, Brandy is passionate about patient safety, process improvement and using data to inform decisions.

Director of Facilities Management

John brings to Encompass Health nearly 30 years of healthcare facilities management experience.

John brings to Encompass Health nearly 30 years of healthcare facilities management experience. He is an Atlanta native and earned his Biomedical Engineering degree at Southern Polytechnical College — to which he began his career in. He spent the majority of his tenure at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta and Emory Healthcare Saint Joseph’s Hospital where he managed over two million square feet of facility buildings and associated grounds. He has a broad depth of knowledge in support services, construction management, regulatory compliance, and real estate. He is driven by his commitment to providing excellent customer service and promoting the facilities team role in the patient and family experience. John enjoys spending time with his family and friends, is an avid golfer, and lover of music and film.
