At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Greenville and serving the surrounding area including Spartanburg, we are an inpatient rehabilitation hospital that provides inpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology for stroke, brain injury and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Joshua Trout comes to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville with more than 10 years’ of healthcare leadership experience in hospital operations and business development. Prior to transitioning to his current role with Encompass Health, Joshua was the CEO of a long term acute care hospital in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, where he and his team had many achievements including a Hospital of Excellence Award and Quality Excellence Award in 2020. He was also an honoree of the 2020 Central Penn Business Journal Forty Under 40 Award. Joshua earned a bachelor’s of science degree in sports management: health and wellness from California University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Ohio University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and sits on the national American Heart Association Post-Acute Care Writing Committee. As a healthcare leader, Joshua puts a hyper-focus on a positive culture that provides his employees and patients with an atmosphere of positivity, compassion, inclusivity and safety. He believes that through employee engagement, having a strong and healthy culture, and providing his employees with the tools to be successful; ultimately leads to positive outcomes and high quality of care.
Medical Director
Since 2013, Dr. Angelica Soberon-Cassar has been serving patients in South Carolina and is excited to continue to serve this community in her new role as medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville. She completed residency at the University of Texas-Houston/Baylor College of Medicine Alliance in Houston, Texas and is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and brain injury medicine. During residency, she worked at TIRR Memorial Hermann, one of our nation’s renowned rehabilitation hospitals. Since moving to South Carolina, she worked as a rehabilitation physician at Prisma Health and Roger C. Peace. She is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Medicine and University of Miami. Dr. Soberon-Cassar is bilingual and fluent in Spanish.
Director of Therapy Operations
Chris has been with Encompass Health for more than 18 years, serving in several local, and regional roles including 15 years’ experience as a therapy director. He joined the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville in April of 2021. Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. He became interested in a career in occupational therapy after an accident left him in need of rehabilitative care for a T4 spinal cord injury. Chris has spent the years since his accident conquering barriers many patients face in the rehabilitation setting today. His unique position has proven to be an asset in working with patients he has treated in his career.
Director of Facilities Management
Barry serves as the facilities management director at the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. He has more than 25 years of maintenance and leadership experience, with over five years serving in both project and facilities management in the medical field. He enjoys working with people by participating in all types of public service opportunities. He earned his baccalaureate of science in civil engineering from Clemson University. Barry and the Greenville team are focused on providing an environment that is caring, safe, secure and well maintained for all patients, employees and visitors.
Director of Case Management
Cathy transferred to Encompass Health in Greenville, South Carolina in 2021 after working in case management for Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She started her career there as a case manager in 2012 and was promoted to director in 2014. She is a registered nurse and earned her Case Management Certification in 2006. Cathy has an extensive case management background including working with the Medicare Advantage population at an insurance company, Utilization Management with a third party administrator, disease management and occupational health nursing. Cathy enjoys being actively involved in community activities especially with the veteran population through Honor Flight.
Chief Nursing Officer
Cheryl Fieldhouse serves as Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville’s chief nursing officer. She brings with her more than 20 years of diverse nursing experience ranging from bedside nursing to nursing education to nursing administration. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in nursing administration from Clemson University. She is credentialed as a board certified advanced nurse executive and medical-surgical nurse, and licensed as a nursing home administrator in the state of South Carolina.
Controller
Stephanie, controller of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville, graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She spent 10 years practicing as a certified public accountant and 16 years in hospital financial analysis and planning. Stephanie is actively pursuing a master’s degree of business administration.
Director of Quality/Risk Management
Sheila serves as director of quality and risk management at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville. She has more than 30 years of nursing and leadership experience including critical care, home care, hospice, long term care, rehabilitation, information technology, legal nurse consulting and risk management. She also founded and operated a clinical research company in Upstate South Carolina. Sheila has served on various local, state and national boards related to healthcare.
Human Resources Director
Tara has been with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville, South Carolina since March 2021. She previously worked at Encompass Health’s hospitals in Anderson, South Carolina; Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Birmingham, Alabama. Tara, a Greenville native, has more than 20 years' experience in human resources. She earned a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina. She has also holds the Professional in Human Resources certification.
Director of Pharmacy
Building on her 22 years of experience, Valerie oversees the hospital’s pharmacy operations, ensuring quality and accuracy of medication delivery for our patients. Valerie earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. She is a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Valerie enjoys nurturing young girls’ leadership and self-sufficiency skills through serving as a Girl Scout leader for the Mountains to the Midlands area. She is a native of Charleston, South Carolina, but has lived the past 22 years in the Upstate.
Business Development Director
Natalie, business development director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Greenville, brings more than 14 years of experience in various healthcare settings including inpatient rehabilitation, hospital and hospice experience. After working in clinical positions for nearly a decade, she found her passion for helping and educating the senior population through business development and healthcare marketing. Natalie earned her master’s degree of business administration and master’s degree of health administration from the University of Texas - Tyler. She is a lifetime resident of the Upstate area and hopes to help those in her community through the resources and care offered at Encompass Health.
