Encompass Health, Memorial Health System expanding to support community need in Gulfport
07/17/23
Encompass Health Corp. and Memorial Health System today announce plans to expand Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a partner of Memorial Hospital Gulfport. The 43-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located inside of Memorial Hospital Gulfport as a hospital-in-hospital structure, recently received a certificate of need (CON) to add 12 additional beds for a total of 55 beds.
Mark Studdard named CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Gulfport

Mark Studdard has been appointed as chief executive officer of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a partner of Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. In his position as CEO, Studdard will oversee all of the day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality at the 43-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 4500 13th Street, Suite 900.

Happy National Nurses Week to our amazing nurses. Every day is your day, but this week is specially set aside for you! We appreciate all that you do for our patients and staff. Thank you for all your help, support and compassion. We asked Meghan Dunn, nurse supervisor, what she enjoys most about being a nurse. “I find it to be a challenging and fulfilling job where I’m using critical thinking skills and I get to help patients, as well,” she said.

Congratulations to Mr. Little Thompson for completing his rehabilitation journey. He’s ringing the bell in honor of his independence day. He said the best thing about being at Encompass Health was the treatment from therapy staff. “I really enjoyed the therapy staff,” he said. “They worked very well with me and have helped me a lot.”

At the end of March, we hosted a farewell gathering for our CEO, Amber Hester. Although we are sad to have to say goodbye, we’re excited about Amber’s future opportunities. We celebrated National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 15-19. Staff and patients were encouraged to fill out a patient safety sign and take a picture by the backdrop. We provided popcorn and goodie bags to patients and staff as well.

This week our employees line up to get their COVID-19 vaccine. Pharmacy Director Kaitlin Truong administers the vaccine to Alicia Johnson, a register nurse at our hospital. Alicia said she’s relieved that she finally received vaccine.
