Harmarville discontinues outpatient operations

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville made the difficult decision to discontinue its outpatient services beginning Sept. 30, 2020. The hospital will continue to support our great community by providing high‑quality inpatient rehabilitation care through our 162‑bed hospital.

Brittany Micholas - Hope found after stroke

After a stroke at age 25, Brittany Micholas felt like there was no hope for getting better. But with help from the therapists at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville, Brittany was able to develop new skills and return to the things she loves.

The physical therapy team at Encompass Health Harmarville helped patient Robert Jeke take his first steps after a severe spinal cord injury. Our staff uses advanced technologies to treat patients affected by spinal cord injury such as the Rifton TRAM Trainer. The TRAM is a transfer and mobility device designed to assist in gait training, sit to stand transfers and seated transfers.

As the weather starts to warm up, we were able to work on skills and activities that are meaningful and fulfilling to our patients. Mary Ann is engaging in her favorite activity—planting pansies! This is a great start to filling the therapy garden.

When Lisa Sprague underwent a total knee replacement in January 2020, she developed muscle spasms in her leg that made it difficult to walk and was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. She was sent home to do physical therapy but struggled to walk and complete activities of daily living, and couldn't put any weight on her leg.
