Over the years, she has served in the roles of outpatient medical director, inpatient medical director, and consultant. Most recently, she again assumed the role of medical director over inpatient operations in 2013. Dr. Merritt is a graduate of the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in Chicago, and completed her residency at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Merritt’s expertise extends to advanced wound management, and electro-diagnostic services. Her passion is a holistic, patient-centered approach to rehabilitation that produces exceptional service delivery and outcomes.

She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Kentucky. She is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty certificate in spinal cord injury medicine. Dr. McDowell is the Janet Galloway Carter Endowed Chairperson of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Kentucky. As the medical director of Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, she actively participates in the daily efforts to advance the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of rehabilitation care provided.

He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as in pain management. He served as interim medical director in 2010-2011 and accepted the role full-time in 2013. He was named Encompass Health’s “Medical Director of the Central Region” in 2013 and 2017 in recognition of the excellent patient outcomes, patient, and staff satisfaction under his leadership. He is very active in the community, supporting multiple charitable organizations, including volunteering on the Hosparus Board. Tony and his wife, Leah, who is a pharmacist in the community, reside in Elizabethtown with their three children.

Dr. Gibbs has dedicated her life to community service receiving awards such as the 2007 Women of Distinction Award for Community Service from Girl Scouts of America and the Urban League of Young Professionals for Leadership in Medicine. She was also a stroke ambassador and served on the board of the American Heart Association for Beaver/Butler Counties.

He enrolled in the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program at the SUNY at Stony Brook University in New York.
