Dr. Philip Chen is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician (PM&R) providing inpatient rehabilitation services for patients at the University of Iowa Health Network Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture between University of Iowa Health Systems and Encompass Health. Dr. Chen joined the University of Iowa health care faculty in 2017 to grow PM&R services. Dr. Brian Walsh joined Encompass Health in October 2020 and became associate medical director in March 2021. Since joining The Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio, a joint venture between Premier Health and Encompass Health, he has been the spinal cord injury physician director working towards the accreditation of the program.

Dr. Adeel is a fellowship trained and board-certified rehabilitation physician who was named associate medical director in March 2016. He has practiced at Staten Island University Hospital in New York where he was a clinical instructor in the rehabilitation medicine residency program. Dr. Craig joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Franklin after serving as the medical director of Van Matre Rehabilitation Hospital in Rockford, Illinois, for 11 years. Dr. Tony Abang has been with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Lakeview since 2004. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Indiana School of Medicine. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as in pain management. He served as interim medical director in 2010-2011 and accepted the role full-time in 2013. Dr. Funderburk is a board-certified internal medicine physician with more than 20 years of experience. Originally from Louisiana, she began her undergraduate studies at LSU then moved to Memphis in 1989 and completed her bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Memphis. She then earned her medical degree from UTHSC and completed her residency at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. She initially ran an internal medicine office practice for three years before becoming a hospitalist at several Memphis area hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. Dr. Ramavaram is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician and serves as the medical director for The Quad Cities Rehabilitation Institute. Dr. Burris is the chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and has been a professor in the department since 2001. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Missouri. Dr. Burris serves as the medical director of Rusk Rehabilitation Hospital. He has been the residency program director for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 2007. Dr. Cull is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician who has been practicing for more than 20 years. She has extensive experience as a medical director, most recently at Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island. Dr. Nathaniel Miller is the medical director of Encompass Health Colorado Springs and serves as the associate medical director of Encompass Health Littleton. He received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Denver and a master’s degree in organic chemistry from CU Denver. He furthered his medical education by receiving his medical doctorate at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and by completing his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Marianjoy in Wheaton, Illinois. Dr. John Lopez serves as the medical director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of East Valley. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty certification in spinal cord injury medicine. A graduate of Louisiana State University, he completed his medical studies at Midwestern University Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Nguyen, medical director of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Henderson, has been serving the rehabilitation community for more than 18 years. Dr. Nguyen is a board certified physiatrist by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and medical doctorate degree from Poznan University of Medical Sciences.
