Located in Humble, we serve the greater Houston area as a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, brain injury, oncology and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Committed to setting the standard in post-acute care, our hospital holds Joint Commission disease-specific care certifications in hip fracture rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, brain injury rehabilitation and oncology rehabilitation.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
Jonathan has worked at Encompass Health Humble since 2013 as an occupational therapist, therapy team leader, senior patient assessments coordinator and director of therapy operations. He is a licensed occupational therapist (OTR) who attended the University of Central Arkansas where he received his bachelor’s degree in health science and Master of Science in occupational therapy.
Dr. Mathurin brings more than 20 years of experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble. He received his education at the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez; SUNY Health Center at Brooklyn, New York; Columbia University – Harlem Hospital and Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey. Dr. Mathurin is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Mathurin is an independent private practice physician.
Human Resources Director
Christy brings more than 15 years of human resources experience to the leadership team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble. She has an extensive background in human resource management with an expertise in employee relations. Christy has been a member of the HealthSouth team since 2007.
Director of Therapy Operations
Jason brings more than 10 years of leadership experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble. A Louisiana native, he graduated from the University of Louisiana with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology. Jason is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association as well as the Texas Speech and Hearing Association.
Hospital HIPAA Officer
Karen joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble in 2020. Karen has a bachelor’s of science degree in health information management and is a registered health information administrator. She has held a variety of positions in health information management in various healthcare facilities for more than 30 years. Karen served as HIPAA compliance and privacy officer in some of those positions since HIPAA become law in 1996.
Director of Quality and Risk
Lisa brings ten years of Encompass Health clinical liaison experience to the role of director of quality and risk management. In addition to her many accomplishments with Encompass Health, Lisa also brings the discipline and attention to detail gained from twenty one years of service in The United States Army, finishing that career as sergeant first class. Lisa has experience in ICU and trauma medicine as well as a successful record in leadership roles. It is with this combination of experience and dedication to patients and staff education, that Lisa looks forward to continuous improvements in patient care and quality.
Sheila has been with Encompass Health since 2000 and with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble since 2010. She brings more than 10 years of hospital accounting experience. Sheila earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of Phoenix.
Director of Pharmacy
Curtis has been with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble since 1990 and brings more than 30 years experience in pharmacy. Throughout his career he has enjoyed various awards and recognitions from institutions such as Texas Southern University, Humble Independent School District and Veterans Administration Hospital to name a few. He is very active with various pharmacy industry associations and leadership programs.
Director of Case Management
Crystal joined Encompass Health Humble in December 2020 as director of case management. A Houston native, Crystal graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing with a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing in and received a master’s degree in business administration. Crystal’s nursing career began in outpatient dialysis and then medical surgical nursing. She found interest in patient advocacy, which allowed her to move into case management in the acute care setting. She brings excellent collaboration to the team and always seeks maximized patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
Facilities Management Director
Joshua Vaught has been with Encompass Health since February of 2018. He earned his bachelor's degree in architecture from Texas A&M University. Josh has a strong background in facilities management, originating in the higher education sector.
