At Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Sugar Land, we serve the greater Houston area as a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, amputation, cardiac conditions, Parkinson’s disease and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.
Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.
Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

Chief Executive Officer
With more than 18 years in healthcare, consisting of clinical and operational roles, Bindu Varghese brings a solid understanding of overall hospital operations to Encompass Health Sugar Land Rehabilitation Hospital. She has been with Encompass Health Sugar Land for more than 11 years and served as the director of therapy operations for eight of those years. Bindu has a clinical background in occupational therapy and also holds a master’s degree in business administration. Since her time at Encompass Health Sugar Land, she has led the team to its successful completion in many large scale projects. She has also served on Encompass Health’s National Therapy Leadership Board and Diversity Council. Bindu is driven and passionate in providing quality care to the patients and getting them back home with their loved ones.
Nutritional Services Manager
LaShay comes to Encompass Health with more than 14 years of food service experience. She has spent 8 of those years at Encompass Health Sugar Land as the Lead Cook and is well respected amongst her peers. Her background includes an extensive knowledge of food service operations in a variety of healthcare settings. She recognizes the importance of quality and wholesome meals in the rehabilitation process. LaShays passion for impeccable food and top notch service standards make her a great asset to the Encompass Health team.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
Lisa brings more than 10 years of healthcare experience to the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land team as the director of quality and risk management. Prior to joining the Sugar Land team, she worked in several settings including long term acute care and behavioral health, managing ancillary services, health information, quality and medical staff services. Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake and her master’s degree in business administration from Texas Women’s University. Lisa is passionate about quality outcomes, process improvement and standardization in healthcare.
Human Resources Director
Hannah Collins brings more than 15 years of human resources experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land. She has extensive healthcare experience. Hannah graduated from the University of Phoenix with a master’s degree in business administration with a focus on healthcare management. She is a 2000 Olympian in the 100m hurdles and a member of Society for Human Resources management (SHRM).
Business Development Director
Katie Dunnavant joined the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land in March 2021 as the business development director. Katie has been a part of the Encompass Health network since June 2016 serving in various roles for its home health and inpatient rehabilitation segments ,which include medical social worker, care transitions coordinator and rehabilitation liaison. Prior to moving into her current role at Encompass Health of Sugar Land, she was the senior rehabilitation liaison at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Pearland. Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Texas Pan American and is licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners.
Maintenance Manager and Safety Officer
Matthew joined the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land team in July of 2014 and serves as the maintenance manager and safety officer. Matt has more than five years of experience in both the residential and commercial construction and healthcare facilities management. Prior to joining Encompass Health, he worked for North Cypress Medical Center and Perry Homes in management capacities. Matt regularly volunteers his time and knowledge for community construction projects for nonprofit organizations, dedicating himself for the care of others. Matthew was born and raised in Cypress, Texas, and has earned his Bachelor of Science in construction science from Texas A&M University, College Station.
Chief Nursing Officer
Sheri Morris brings 35 years of healthcare experience to her role as chief nursing officer to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sugar Land. Sheri has her master degree in nursing. In her 35 years in healthcare, she has spent 26 years as a registered nurse and more than 20 years in nursing leadership roles.
Carol joined the Encompass Health team as controller in August of 2013. She is a certified public accountant and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Angelo State University. Carol has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and financial management for private, public and non-profit organizations.
Director of Therapy
Jessica has more than 8 years of experience as speech language pathologist with Encompass Health Sugar Land. She served as the lead therapist and therapy manager for the past few years. Jessica earned her master’s degree in communication disorders from West Texas A&M University as well as a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Texas Woman’s University. She is passionate about providing excellent patient care and has a strong desire to see patients improve their function in order to have a better quality of life.
Director of Pharmacy
Megan is a registered pharmacist with over 3 decades of practice, after receiving her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati located in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2011, she obtained a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Megan’s background experience draws from management in retail, clinical pharmacist for acute care hospital and out-patient infusion, and 8 years as a director of pharmacy in the acute care setting. Megan is an active member of The American Society of Hospital Pharmacists and is licensed in numerous states.
