Neurological Physical Therapy Residency

Our physical therapy residency is a 14-month post-professional opportunity that offers clinical education and mentoring. Open to APTA members, participants receive experience in an inpatient setting and can also achieve board certification as a neurological clinical specialist more quickly.

Opportunities & Goals

Opportunities:

  • Clinical practice in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital
  • Didactic education from Neuroconsortium and Medbridge and weekly mentoring from a neuro PT
  • Interprofessional opportunities with a hospital and the community

Goals:

  • Develop high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy practice or consultation skills for the neurologic patients
  • Educate patients and caregivers in the areas of wellness, prevention and health promotion
  • Develop clinical reasoning skills and critical inquiry to assess research and educate staff
  • Serve as an advocate within the physical therapy profession

Requirements & Financial Considerations

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in physical therapy
  • Eligibility for licensure in Delaware
  • Experience with neurologic patient populations
