At Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, we are committed to helping you regain independence after a life-changing illness or injury. Located in Westerville and serving the greater Columbus area, we are a leading provider of inpatient rehabilitation for stroke, amputation and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

Using clinical collaboration and advanced technologies, we provide a personalized care plan designed to meet your unique needs and help you achieve your goals.

Our inpatient rehabilitation hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach that includes physical, speech and occupational therapists, rehabilitation physicians, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, dietitians and more, combined with our advanced technology and expertise, to help you achieve your goals. You will receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week while under the constant care of registered nurses, many of whom specialize in rehabilitation, and frequent independent private practice physician* visits.

Rehabilitation is covered in full or part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies, as needed.

*The hospital provides access to independent physicians.

Hospital happenings

After being discharged from the hospital after his COVID-19 battle, Don Billups had one more stop on his six-week recovery journey. Billups went to at Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital to help him regain strength and function after being on the ventilator for 28 days. His return home was a much needed moment for his wife, who lost her parents and a younger brother to COVID-19.

ANGELA (ANGIE) BRIDGES

Chief Executive Officer

Angie graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s in nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati and then in 1996 obtained a master’s degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University.
Angie graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s in nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati and then in 1996 obtained a master’s degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University. She has been in some form of hospital administration since 1990 ranging from assistant head nurse to her most recent role as the director of patient care services/chief nursing officer with Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati, Ohio. Angie joined Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital as the chief executive officer in October 2016.

Dr. Fanous is a board-certified physiatrist who serves as the medical director of Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dr. Fanous is a board-certified physiatrist who serves as the medical director of Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Fanous is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed both his medical internship and physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at The Ohio State University where he served as chief resident. He also completed his master's degree in business administration at The Ohio State University. Dr. Fanous currently serves as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University.

Polly brings more than 18 years of marketing and inpatient rehabilitation admissions experience to the Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital. She graduated from The Ohio State University with her bachelor's degree and master's degree in speech-language pathology. She began her career with the Mount Carmel Health System in 1993, working as a speech-language pathologist on both the acute care and inpatient rehab units for five years before accepting the role of rehabilitation specialist/admissions coordinator in 1998.

Ibrahima Loume, MBA

Controller

In his role as controller, Ibrahima oversees the complete accounting and financial function of the hospital.
Ibrahima Loume has more than ten years in healthcare finance. In his role as controller, he oversees the complete accounting and financial function of the hospital. This includes charges, billing, accounts receivable, cash receipts, collections, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, contracting, internal control and audit. Prior to joining Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital in March of 2018, Ibrahima served as a senior financial analyst for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he led the annual capital/operating budget and on-going financial analysis for department of clinical therapies, radiology and sports medicine. Ibrahima holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Franklin University and a master’s degree in financial economics from Ohio University.

Camille has been practicing in the field of speech-language pathology for 21 years.
Camille has been practicing in the field of speech-language pathology for 21 years. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master's degree in speech-language pathology both from The Ohio State University, she began her career as a speech-language pathologist at Mount Carmel Inpatient Rehabilitation Center in 1995. She served as the clinical coordinator at Mount Carmel from 2002 until 2017. Camille completed the Healthcare Leadership Series from Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions in 2016. She is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Angela began her career with the Mount Carmel Health System in 2006.

Angela began her career with the Mount Carmel Health System in 2006, as a physical therapist with the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Mount Carmel West Hospital. Since 2017, she has worked at Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital, both as a physical therapist and a patient assessment standards coordinator. Angela earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science and her master’s degree in physical therapy from The Ohio State University.

Grace has more than 13 years of experience in hospital based case management.
Grace has more than 13 years of experience in hospital based case management. She spent eight of those years at the Mount Carmel Health System inpatient rehabilitation unit where she developed a passion for working in the rehabilitation field. Grace also brings experience with cancer services and home health care to our team. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from The Ohio State University. During her time in case management, she has served on many patient centered committees.

SHALUNDA TYLER

Chief Nursing Officer

Shalunda brings 22 years of nursing experience and more than 19 years of healthcare leadership expertise to Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital.

Shalunda brings 22 years of nursing experience and almost 20 years of healthcare leadership expertise to Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital. She obtained her associate degree from Indiana State University, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana University, and her master’s degree in business operational excellence from The Ohio State University. She is currently completing her doctorate in nursing practice from Capella University. She started her career as a surgical nurse in general surgery, neuro surgery and as a member of the adult and pediatric transplant team. Throughout her career, she has worked as an operating room nursing educator, OR/PACU administrative nurse manager and then transitioned to division director of medical surgical nursing. Shalunda is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and has experience working with lean promotion in healthcare.
