Chief Executive Officer
Prior to his appointment to Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, Mark was the chief executive officer at North Shore Medical Center in Miami, FL, where he led his team to achieve The Joint Commission's Thrombectomy Stroke Center Certification as the first hospital in Miami-Dade, design and construction of a new 16-bed forensics unit to serve Florida Department of Corrections patients, reinvigorated the bariatric surgery program as well as numerous other initiatives. Mark was the chief operating officer at Palmetto General Hospital and was the lead COO for Tenet Healthcare’s Miami-Dade group of hospitals. In his COO role, Mark implemented best practices across the five hospitals to optimize efficiency and improve quality of care. Mark has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in business administration from Fitchburg State University.
Medical Director
Dr. Juan Lebron is the medical director at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Lebron earned his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico, and joined Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, upon completion of his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) at the State University of New York in Syracuse, N.Y. As a native of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Dr. Lebron is fluent in Spanish and has settled into the Brevard County lifestyle comfortably. He is happy to see patients in the only acute rehabilitation hospital setting in Brevard County, where he specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with conditions such as stroke, neurological disorders, hip fracture, traumatic brain injury and amputation. In addition, he has expanded into outpatient rehabilitation for continuum of care. Dr. Lebron is currently seeing patients in the inpatient setting at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital and can be consulted at several acute hospitals for any PM&R needs.
Dr. Lebron is an independent private practice physician.
Director of Facilities Management
Steven joined at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in May 2021. He began his career in healthcare in 2010 in the acute care setting. Prior to that, he did drafting and engineering for seven years. Steven earned his associate’s degree in engineering, bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indian River State College and master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Central Florida.
Director of Therapy Operations
Kersten has been a physical therapist for more than 13 years and has worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home health care and long term acute care both as a staff therapist and a director. She joined with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sea Pines team in the fall of 2012. Kersten is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a master’s of science in rehabilitation sciences degree, and a doctor of physical therapy degree.
Controller
Brian brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience with a career built on integrity, respect for diversity and dedication to exceptional care for patients and families. Prior to joining Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in 2022, he held various senior-level roles in finance and administration at Boston Children's Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As a controller for Sea Pines, Brian is committed to creating an environment that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission to deliver the highest quality integrated care while maintaining financial and fiscal responsibilities. A Boston native, Brian has volunteered for many years with a youth hockey program, coaching young athletes during the long hockey seasons in New England. He is now enjoying Florida's beaches and looks forward to being an active member of the community in Brevard County.
Business Development Director
Jaimee has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, with focus in the areas of case management, discharge planning, medical sales and marketing as well as business development. She received an undergraduate degree in social work from North Adams State College in Massachusetts. Jaimee is very involved in the community and serves on the board of directors for the Brevard Parkinson’s Alliance.
Director of Case Management
After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation from Illinois State University, Karen joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sea Pines in 1996 as a recreational therapist. Karen continued her education and received her registered nursing degree from Eastern Florida State College. She is a Certified Case Manager with more than 13 years’ experience in case management.
Director of Quality & Risk
Michelle has been employed by Encompass Health since 1994. She has served in multiple roles including rehab nursing tech, rehab therapy tech, occupational therapist, senior occupational therapist and clinical hospital educator. She is part of the Encompass Health Clinical Excellence University instructor team for spinal cord injury, STOP 2 champion and fall team champion. Michelle earned her bachelor's degree in occupational therapy in 1999 from Florida A&M University. She also holds an associate degree in nursing from Indian River Community College and a certification in ergonomics. Michelle has worked as an occupational therapist in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, acute and home health settings, sharing her love for teaching independence and making connections with patients and team members.
Chief Nursing Officer
John joined Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in 2024. A veteran of the United States Navy, he brings with him over 30 years of experience in medicine including trauma management, acute care in the hospital setting and surgical services. He has served in nursing leadership roles such as nurse manager, hospital site administrator and director of nursing, leading his teams through the COVID-19 pandemic while achieving high levels of success for his teams in all his endeavors. John received his bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of West Florida as well as a bachelor’s degree in organizational management – healthcare administration from Eastern Florida State College.
Director of Pharmacy
Robert serves as director of pharmacy at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital.
Robert serves as director of pharmacy at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health. He has been a pharmacist for over 20 years with experience in retail and acute care settings and has served on other Encompass Health teams as a pharmacist for 10 years. Originally from New York, Robert earned his pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Director of Human Resources
Nupur is a process and people-improvement-driven human resources professional with a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology. A SHRM Certified Professional, she possesses more than six years of core human resources experience in the areas of recruitment, national and international on/off-boarding, vendor management, skills development training, and policy drafting and interpretation. In her current role at Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health her core functions include recruiting, onboarding, orientation, compliance reporting, training and development, policy communication and interpretation. Her areas of interest include diversity and inclusion, organizational development, training and development as well as human resources operations improvement.
