Chief Executive Officer
Leah brings more than 25 years of healthcare management experience to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley, including experience in acute care hospitals, acute inpatient rehabilitation, long-term acute care and hospital operations in Pittsburgh and New Castle. She has held a number of progressively responsible management positions including chief nurse, vice president, chief operating officer and chief executive officer. Leah is actively engaged in a number of professional organizations, community initiatives and government relations activities that positively impact the delivery of rehabilitation services to patients and families. She has contributed to articles that have been published and is often recognized for her community involvement throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. Leah received her doctorate degree in 2010. She is committed to seeing that patients who receive rehabilitation care receive the best outcome.
Medical Director
Dr. Mustovic has practiced in Pittsburgh as a physiatrist, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) since 1990. She brings more than 25 years of rehabilitation experience to her role as medical director. Dr. Mustovic graduated summa cum laude from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania; and completed her medical degree at The University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. She completed her internship and residency in PM&R at the University of Pittsburgh and joined the group practice, Medical Rehabilitation Inc., upon finishing her residency. She has served as associate program director of the St. Francis and University of Pittsburgh Residency programs in PM&R, vice chairperson of the Mercy Hospital Department of Rehabilitation as well as medical director of the rehabilitation program at Mercy Providence Hospital. She enjoys teaching resident physicians as a way of promoting and developing the field of rehabilitation.
Dr. Mustovic is an independent private practice physician.
Controller
Virgil joined Encompass Heath Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley in April 2020 and brings with him more than 25 years of healthcare finance experience. He started his career at St. Francis Medical Center in the patient accounting division and worked his way up to director positions in both the accounting and budgeting divisions. Virgil spent 14 years at UPMC in the finance area of the physician services division, which included more than 30 clinical business units employing over 3,000 physicians. His most recent position at UPMC was the director of finance which provided operational support to the executive teams of the department of orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurosurgery and neurology. A life-long resident of the Pittsburgh area, Virgil graduated from Robert Morris University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Director of Facilities Management
Dan is the director of facilities for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh engineering program. Dan has led his department at Encompass Health Sewickley for more than 20 years.
Director of Human Resources
Melissa joined Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley in late 2011, bringing more than 13 years of human resources experience in the healthcare industry. She is a graduate of Cheyney University, located outside of Philadelphia, and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management. She obtained her master’s degree in human resources administration from LaRoche College, located in the north hills of Pittsburgh. Melissa is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and volunteers with community projects and other business organizations. She is committed to her staff and management team.
Area Business Development Director
Lisa Hopkins, OTR/L, is the area business development director for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley. She started her career as an occupational therapist after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994. Since then, she’s held a variety of leadership roles both in occupational therapy, as well as marketing. Immediately prior to joining as Encompass Health Sewickley’s DMO, Lisa was a part of the hospital’s joint marketing team with Encompass Health Harmarville, serving as a marketing liaison covering the Sewickley geographical territory and prior as a rehab liaison covering the South Hills. Prior to joining Encompass Health Sewickley, she served as the manager of occupational therapy for the Western Pennsylvania Hospital. Other roles she has held include the co-director for the Encompass Health Harmarville 5K Determination Dash, Chair of the Pittsburgh Fieldwork Council and member of both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association. She currently serves as chairperson for the North/West Chapter of the MASH (Marketing Admissions Supporting Healthcare) Networking group.
Director of Pharmacy
Leslie is the director of pharmacy and has led the pharmacy team at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley, and more recently our Kennedy site, for more than 10 years. A graduate of West Virginia University, she completed a pharmacy practice residency at Allegheny General Hospital and has been with Encompass Health in the Pittsburgh area for more than 20 years. Leslie's experience also includes home infusion and hospice. She is currently working toward a certification in antimicrobial stewardship.
Director of Case Management
Joseph is the director of case management for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley. Joe is a registered nurse with varied experiences ranging from pediatric and adult ICU, ED, LTAC, wound care/hyperbaric and acute rehab nursing. He began his case management career as a clinical manager and case manager of outpatient wound care clinics and then spent time with a major health insurance provider as a complex case manager and transition specialist. He is a board-certified case manager through the Commission for Case Manager Certification. Joe is proud to work in inpatient rehabilitation and lead the dedicated and talented group of case managers in assisting our patients and their families to return to their community as strong and safely as possible.
Chief Nursing Officer
Melissa is our chief nursing officer. Prior to joining Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley, Melissa served as the vice president of patient care and chief nursing officer in the Dignity Health System in California. Before that, Melissa was the vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer in the UPMC Health System at UPMC Horizon for eight years with administrative responsibility over their inpatient rehab unit. She also served as the emergency director at UPMC St. Margaret’s. Melissa is a surveyor for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Pathway to Excellence, where she credentials Magnet programs in hospitals. As part of this program, Melissa has demonstrated success in helping hospitals maximize both the patient experience and employee engagement. Melissa is a nurse practitioner and holds a doctorate in nursing.
Director of Therapy
Jessica leads the team of inpatient therapists at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley. She is a graduate of Saint Francis University with a bachelor's degree in health science and a doctoral in physical therapy. Jessica received her neuro-developmental treatments certification in 2014. She has been with Encompass Health Sewickley for 10 years and prior to the DTO role, Jessica was the physical therapy team lead for seven years. Jessica became a physical therapist at Encompass to improve the quality of life in her patients. She is proud to work with an amazing group of therapists at Encompass Health Sewickley.
Director of Quality & Risk
James serves as the director of quality & risk at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley. He has been a registered nurse for 30 years. James has worked in various nursing leadership roles including unit director and administrative supervisor and he co-chaired multiple quality initiatives related to improving healthcare, specifically readmission reduction and fall prevention. James received his bachelor's degree in nursing in 2020 and completed a master's degree in nursing leadership from California University of Pennsylvania. He is an award-winning poster presenter for the Nurses Choice Award in 2019 from UPMC that demonstrated an effective fall reduction program.
