Sewickley Rehabilitation Hospital outpatient closing

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley made the difficult decision to discontinue its outpatient services beginning Nov. 24, 2020. The hospital will continue to support our great community by providing high‑quality inpatient rehabilitation care through our inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley received the National President’s Circle Award and the Marketing Team of the Year Award during Encompass Health’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet held virtually in November.
Grand opening celebration held for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley

SEWICKLEY, Pa., Nov. 6, 2019 – Yesterday, a grand opening celebration was held for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley's new rehabilitation hospital. Encompass Health Sewickley, a joint venture of Encompass Health and Heritage Valley Health System, welcomed its first patients on Friday, Sept. 20 at the new hospital, which is located at 351 Camp meeting Road in Sewickley.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley, formerly known as HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley, will begin providing its high-quality rehabilitative care through its new, state-of-the-art hospital on Sept. 20, 2019.

In recognition of National Patient Safety Week, Encompass Health Sewickley staff collected board games, puzzles and activities for local senior high rise residents and senior community centers in the area. After the games were collected, the hospital’s team of Rehab Liaisons dropped off the items as a way of providing some activities to the local senior community. Joanne from Vincentian Collaborative System was happy to accept our donation.

David suffered a stroke in March. Once ready for rehabilitation, David chose Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley for his care. He worked hard during his therapy sessions to reach his goal of walking again.

During the week the hospital transformed into a gaming adventure to engage both employees and patients. While the week has come and gone for another year, the effort and work continues on a daily basis to always “make the right move” and protect patient safety.

It's Occupational Therapy Month! Our occupational therapists at Encompass Health Sewickley don't work only in our gym. We also have occupational therapists that serve in roles such as director of quality, business development director, patient assessments standard coordinator, rehab liaisons and nursing technicians.

Did you know that National Argyle Day was on Jan. 8? It celebrates the pattern derived from the tartan of Clan Campbell of Argyll in western Scotland. Regardless of why it is celebrated, the staff at Encompass Health Sewickley is always ready to dress up and enjoy some fun. We hosted a day to see who was the most argyle among us. From head to toe, we had a few employees who loved their argyle more than anyone else and showed it off in top fashion.

Congratulations Sai Chan on winning our Employee of the Fourth Quarter and Encompass Health Sewickley Employee of the Year 2020! As our environmental service supervisor, Sai has navigated additional complexities with COVID-19 this year. Sai has worked tirelessly with all departments to ensure patients have a comfortable and clean room to stay in during rehabilitation. "If you take the time to listen, it shows people that you really care," Sai said. Congratulations Sai and thank you for being an essential part of our team!

When her ATV malfunctioned and drove backwards off a hillside, Shandra Harcarik was found unconscious pinned against a tree with the ATV on top of her. She arrived at Encompass Health Sewickly to begin her recovery from multiple surgeries and a brain injury. She was unable to walk or transfer on her own and was in severe pain. Her goal was to be able to get back to her job, family and independence.
